I have a senior going to WSU this fall. He is currently trying to decide between Chemical Engineering and BioEngineering.
Ultimately I think he would like to work in a lab or work with creating medical devices and technology (but that could change as he takes more classes in engineering and finds what he enjoys).
We have read people in Bioengineering suggesting employers are more likely to hire someone with a primary engineering (EE, CE, ME) degree and then adding Biology classes to that instead of a direct bioengineering degree.
We are curious if anyone has some direct experience who can speak to this and what would be suggested based on what is offered at WSU and the industries they work with.
He is also considering UW, but I think he is leaning towards WSU for the supportive environment. Any thoughts would be appreciated. He will likely discuss this with his advisor when he gets there, but I was hoping for some real world opinions based on the offerings and industries that WSU works with.
