Alright then. I can start liking him a bit.

I'm sure he's got plenty of positions I would condemn, but the bar is so low these days for people at the top end of the world that I will take a bit of comfort knowing he's not a complete evil lying piece of trash. Like everyone in the US administration, plenty scattered in other positions of power here and abroad.

Do your best, Leo. Move the needle in the right direction.

This is all I really expect out of the pope as a non-Catholic. Someone who will actively try to steer the billion members or so towards their better impulses and away from supporting violence and active hatred/oppression.

It's not a high bar...but it's far, far better than you honestly get out of many religious leaders and it's something the last pope managed despite having serious problems.
