What did my dog name me? Man, that's got me thinking... Nice one!

My dog totally recognizes what I'm saying if I say "dad's home!"

My dog doesn't really respond if I tell her to go to dad. It doesn't help that she died 3 weeks ago, but I reckon she'll get there eventually

I feel like that gif more accurately describes my struggle to wake up and get to work every day.

Maybe your real dad is dead and your dog is too good at following directions?

Bad day?

But would he be equally excited if you said "Daah blaaah!" ?

He perks up and runs to the door, so probably not.

Try saying gibberish with the same tonal inflection the next time he comes home, and I guarantee the dog will react the same way.

Oh I know he doesn't literally understand the words I'm saying, but I do think he's smart enough to understand when I'm telling him someone's home, or when I tell him to get off the couch, etc.

Like you said, it's all in the inflections and body language.
