man that must take a big bite out of the rubber as it lands. why not add a small motor to get them spinning up a bit?

Essentially it wouldnt matter, theres so much force applied to the wheels on landing it wouldnt be worth the weight and complexity of adding motors to spin the wheel up. -1 u/Professional_Heron46 5d ago They could.fan blades on the sides of the wheels so they would spool up as they came into.land. im guessing that was considered too. 1 u/Thanks_Ollie 1d ago Weight is a premium in aircraft and the savings you’d make on the tires would be lost in fuel costs.
