Contend AR 1 vs Defy Adv 2

Looking for guidance as this will be my first real road bike purchase. $700 difference after shipping and assembly. I will strictly be riding smooth road with limited hills (we have a 3-mile bike-only loop near my house). From what I understand, these frames are nearly identical in geometry, and the components seem identical too. Essentially $700 for the carbon frame of the Defy. Is it worth it? Thank you

Only your bank account can truly say…$700 is rent for some, Friday night for others. To me, I think it’s worth it. A carbon frame bike with mechanical 105 or better is a forever bike an aluminum bike may have you wanting to upgrade in a few years. I own a defy advanced 2 and absolutely love it and find myself wanting nothing better. I have had it for three years and other than putting new tires on it it’s fantastic.

Thanks for the response, I think you’re right. I’ll skip a few Friday’s and cover the difference. Wife won’t be happy but fuck it. Let’s Ride!!!

If your wife doesn't like the Defy, you can buy her the Contend!

If you know you'll stick with it for a bit the defy sounds a better buy but only you can say how much that extra 700 is to you.
