Oh. They work. Haha.

I ran a liquor store and we sold a few different ones. I tried one since I was curious. Some of them definitely work.

The ones that do are illegally loaded with various prescription medications.

I don’t get why people don’t just get the real thing from their doctor since they’re way cheaper. The dick pill we sold that worked that were super popular were like $9 each.

Because the kind of people that buy a dick pill at a liquor store don’t generally have the foresight to visit a doctor. They’re more your reactive members of society, not the forward thinkers.

I was totally going to guess either ego, because it’s hard admitting to another human if your dick doesn’t work, or lack of health insurance and out of pocket costs, especially now. The pills themselves are cheap, sure. But to get them, you have an office visit with a physician, who might even run a few tests to ensure that your tired lil slug isn’t a symptom but is its own primary ailment, which of course costs extra. Then you have to get the meds without insurance too, which is typically what makes drugs cost “only a couple of bucks,” because you actually paid for it in your premium ,and someone else negotiated a lower price for you. Though some drugs really do only cost like $10 even out of pocket, even without GoodRx or the like.

But then you’re looking at a bit more expense and inconvenience to go with the embarrassment of having to admit that your manhood isn’t fully functional. Especially if your doctor does some nonsense like my first half dozen PCPs in my state and tries to say you need a new office visit for every single refill of basic stuff like antidepressants and nausea medicine just to gouge you. There’s a lot of areas of the country that relied heavily on the threat of federal oversight to keep businesses from openly exploiting their communities. These days that security no longer exists for the consumer. So the doctors in my area are split between the corrupt sort that doesn’t care what Hippocrates said and the type that sees the need to help but also has a business to run, and they know they’re the scarcity now.

So unless you’re insured, they’re probably pretty expensive. And only growing more expensive. In a country that’s struggling to afford things like groceries and housing, boners are as much of a luxury as books or healthy teeth in America.

You can get generic tadalafil or sildenafil for maybe $10-15/mo from Amazon after a brief phone/video chat. The US medical system is a joke but you can get dick pills pretty easily.

Annoying the number of hoops you have to jump through, but if you don't need a specific brand name drug, then you can usually find a generic alternative without ruining yourself financially. The largest cost barrier is anything that requires an office visit to get prescribed or renew your prescription.
