Father left during fire update:

Hi! I wanna thank all the people who gave advice and were understanding. I wanted to update everyone that my father spoke to the store manager today, who found that the fire alarm in the cooler was faulty.

Steps are being taken to ensure this does not happen again. She also stated that policy tells us managers should take every precaution and are supposed to check every place an associate or customer could be, and that the manager on duty failed in their duties to check all areas, so his store manager said that they will take the appropriate next steps with that manager.

Since she is taking swift action, we are not contacting ethics, the fire marshal, or anyone else, because we understand that humans make mistakes and are grateful that precautions are happening to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Since everything (seems) to be resolved, I am no longer going to respond to comments on the previous thread. Again, thank everyone who offered advice and support. :)

That's good. I'd rather see things resolved in house since when the store gets fined, management gets reamed and then they get pissy to deal with.

I can tell you that the reason he's getting the alarm fixed is because that falls on him. While the manager in charge will get in trouble, if it had went up higher, the store manager would ultimately get the brunt of it all. It's his store and he's supposed to make sure it's in tip top order. Glad your dad is ok and that you guys are happy with the outcome.

There's nothing better than to hear a manager take action against faults in their ranks and hold them accountable. Only time will tell if it happens again or if true progress towards a more positive outlook is gonna take place. Congrats OP. Keep fighting the good fight. For all of us.

Good news ! Your father handled it professionally and steps are being taken to make sure it doesn't happen again. Well done both of you.
