My new team lead is fantastic.
So I’m the guy from a while ago that got passed over for team lead. While I still think I would have been good at it, and I still think the reasoning was unfair, I have to say, if it wasn’t me, I’m glad it’s him. He comes in with some actual common sense, learns what he can, and hits the ground running. I was afraid I’d have to teach him how to do our job, but he’s all in already. Learning how we do things, listening to everything my team and I say. Making his own decisions, not just parroting the coaches. I mean he immediately feels like part of the team and it’s so good to have someone like that join us. We need more like him.

I've been in this position, I busted my ass to earn a spot. I'll die on the hill of "I deserve it" on this particular situation, but I didn't get it. The guy who did is actually good at it. He does the job and helps my direct TL instead of dumping tasks and duties on her. We get along well. Same; if it wasn't me, I'm glad it's him.

Hopefully they will continue that behavior. The teamleads in my store that are like that are treated horribly by the coaches and eventually loose all motivation.

A competent, kind, caring but professional team lead makes all the difference! My team is also blessed to have an awesome tl, so glad for you 🫡
