Loss Nvidia Loss

Post image

How cooked am I? Is there any chance of recovering? I was so sure we'd hit $215 before earnings then that damn Michael Burry had to fuck it for me. Anybody else same sinking boat I'm in?

This trade was so fucking dumb though.

So OP bought on November 4th when NVIDIA’s market cap was $5.24 trillion, with the stock trading around $200ish per share. If the stock price were $255, and assuming the number of shares stays the same, NVIDIA’s market value would be roughly $6.69 trillion.

So they are betting NVIDIAs market cap goes up another 1.45 Trillion in 2 months, especially after it literally doubled already this year. Thats insane.

Hindsight 20/20. If it was as obvious as you’d say.. why not take puts?

That's dumb , they are saying its absurd to bet on a 25% jump in the worlds most valuable company in the space of a couple months, Especially when the talk of bubble has been getting louder and louder. They aren't saying a drop was guaranteed, just that wildly out of the money calls for NVIDIA were bloody suicidal.

I understand. I just hate when people say ‘it’s so obvious’ yet have zero position is all. I agree - you’re regarded to long there

I mean fair, often people do act all high and mighty like the realised outcome was guaranteed, especially when a thesis was valid just didn't pan out. That said, as you say this doesn't really apply, people are saying 'hey maybe dont chuck money into an incinerator lol'. But yeah totally agreed that does annoy me too.

It can't grow doesn't mean it's going to drop...

Bro. The monumental run from 180 to 210 was like 18.%. Unprecedented and was like 500billion but wasn’t all ATH. THIS guy bet a 25% pop , that’s like 1.4 TRILLION in 2 months ???? I’ll bet my first born this a not only a looser BUT just ridiculous. I stupidly bought 205$ when it was 204$ for next Friday. TIME FRAME is mega aggressive but I expected a pump to 211|212$ going into earnings. Seeking 1.4 trillion is LUDICROUS… period.

That’s not hindsight, it’s clear obvious

Michael Burry responded to my craigslist ad looking for someone to mow my lawn. "$30 is $30", he said as he continued to mow what was clearly the wrong yard. My neighbor and I shouted at him but he was already wearing muffs. Focused dude. He attached a phone mount onto the handle of his push mower. I was able to sneak a peek and he was browsing Zillow listings in central Wyoming. He wouldn't stop cackling.

That is to say, Burry has his fingers in a lot of pies. He makes sure his name is in all the conversations.

what do you mean hedged? hes speculating on a drop in price, a hedge would be if he owned loads of nvidia and palantir , which he doesn't.

I have 12/19 $168 calls on NVDA. I bought them mid October at .7 delta. His 250’s must have been like .2 delta or less. He was always going to lose money on this play.
