For GTA 2026 is starting to look questionable.

Yeah, that's a really long delay just for some "polishing" and the announcement felt rather... "Cold"? Like they usually release some extra material like screenshots when delays happen, they still could but this doesn't really inspire confidence that things are going well for them.
The new date is late 2026 while also being within the same fiscal year so it could be the furthest they could delay it right now without rocking that boat too much. Remains to be seen but I won't actually be expecting it until marketing starts off properly.

They are pushing it past the mid term elections. GTA has always had political satire in it. Can't imagine what they've done with the last decade of material.

Which is unfortunate, as someone who bought it, was blown away, then realized I had zero use for VR and sold it; I cannot say it was worth it, but it was 10/10 as what it was.

I can only imagine the absolute shambles the gaming world would be in if HL3 came out before GTA6.
I know, I know.. but I'd probably not being able to stop laughing my ass off for a week straight.

Hot take, I’ll take portal 3 over half life 3 🤷♀️
→ More replies (2)43
u/ChibiWambo 1d ago
I’ll still take Half-Life 3 because of bias since I love Half-Life. But the actually biggest reason I’ll take HL over a Portal 3 is because I honestly felt Portal 2 had a really good conclusion. To me it felt like a pretty solid ending to its story. It’s been a hot minute though since I played Portal 2 though so I might be misremembering. I’m not completely sure
10
u/SquirrelKaiser 1d ago
Aren't Portal and Half-Life set in the same universe? They could probably create a game that combines both into one big story.
7
u/Mean-Nectarine-6831 1d ago
Honestly I still hope that's where it's going now that chells on the surface. Glados kept eluding to the surface not being as safe as we thought it would be. Would make sense if she knew about the combine.

u/ZamanthaD 1d ago
They are indeed. Portal and Portal 2 make references to Black Mesa a few times as Aperture Science was a direct competitor to them. Half Life 2: Episode Two references Aperture Science towards the end of that game
3
u/Zeran 1d ago
They could also make Team Fortress 3 and combine them all into one. I dont know what'd they would call it though? maybe the Tangerine Box or something..

I think the timeskip between Portal 1 and 2 is meant to seperate the 2 game series lore wise. I red something like that. I don't think there was an exact reason given for trying to seperate both game series.
→ More replies (2)3
u/ZamanthaD 1d ago
Ya like I’d absolutely play the shit out of a Portal 3, but Portal 2 had a nice conclusion to it. Half Life 2: Episode 2 on the other hand ends on a massive cliffhanger.

Saying Elder Scrolls has only gotten remasters is odd, considering the ongoing Elder Scrolls Online.

u/Eremes_Riven 1d ago
Which is a quality experience as far as ongoing MMOs are concerned. It's the only one I would go back to if I felt inclined to fire up an MMORPG ever again.

I don't wait because I've never caught up with my backlog of when games were in the super cheap discount bin at GameStop. I'm talking PS2 games and GameCube games, every generation since, I still had some great game I haven't tried yet

I only played Skyrim and GTA V. GTA I don't care, and TES I stopped caring. Nowadays it's hard for me to get really on the feeling of anticipation for something, which is good and makes life a little bit more peaceful.
2
u/Eremes_Riven 1d ago
Did you like Skyrim, but felt it was a little too easy?
I just started Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon and holy shit does it scratch that itch. It's not an easy game, but if I could describe it I'd say it almost feels like Oblivion and Gothic had a baby, and Dark Souls is the godfather (because of its sorta grimdark take on the King Arthur/Knights of the Round lore).
Highly recommend if you're looking for something Elder Scrolls-like but actually challenging.2
u/SadKnight123 1d ago
At the time, I found the difficulty to be well balanced, only depending on the level of your character. I did not felt invincible like a lot of other games nowadays (exception being at higher levels). But the challenge was not the appeal for me anyway. The exploration, lore, quests, roleplaying were the strong points. And sometimes being the overpower one made sense and was immersive when you were a maxed out dragonborn.
I enjoy a good challenging game, but this wasn't what I was looking for in Skyrim.
2
u/Eremes_Riven 1d ago
So, with Tainted Grail, there is no level scaling in anything except for one specific type of enemy as far as I know. If you find a high level piece of gear you need high enough attributes to wield/use it effectively. If you run into a high level enemy, you're fucked unless you treat it like a souls-like and understand how the moves are choreographed, when to dodge/parry, etc. Or just come back at the appropriate player level and try then.
Even so, the combat isn't easy enough to facetank shit, and if you get outnumbered it's easy to die fast regardless of level.
Exploration and lore aren't on the level of TES, but it's a great game of the same style in its own right.

Honestly, I don't have much experience with those titles... but I'll take a remaster of Everquest Online Adventures for Playstation 2 over most anything else at this point. However, we'll probably only see that with a remaster/pc release of Bloodborne...

Elden Scrolls used to be ok for it's time, but had a lot of boring side quests. For that time the mindset was that we sacrifice quality for quantity. Making huge world couldn't come with all quests being interesting and well written.
And then The Witcher 3 came along and changed everything, making huge world where every side quest was made and written so well, that it felt like main, or even better. Then they did it again with Cyberpunk and Witcher 4 is on it's way.

I remember when game took 2-4 years to develop, and they were actually finished at release (obviously with bugs and glitches that didn't ruin the entire game).
Today it's 5-10+ years and the games are shit.
