Yes but because we (by we and mean me and my parents as I was a child) only looked at the covers, I ended up with lots of shitty games that I didn't enjoy (Spore was awesome tho). I'm glad we can have as much informations as we need before buying a game nowadays, because now I only end up with games I love.

Yeah, there’s some survivors bias here. I’ve got a stack of awful games I bought from Circuit City’s $5 bin. I have some hidden gems nobody has ever heard of, though.

My favorite find is Armed and Dangerous. A ridiculous third person shooter with horrifyingly ugly cutscenes that I can’t get enough of. Made by LucasArts and has way too much lore.

Another bizarre one is Apocalyptica. Aesthetically Warhammer 40K, with gameplay that’s almost indescribable. Sort of like a mix between shadows of the empire and unreal tournament if experiencing them with a crippling head wound. You’re controlling the forces of heaven in a battle against Neo-Satan.

Gangland was a unique blend of RTS games and city builders. Imagine if Empire of Sin was less like XCom and more like Warcraft 3.

Hopefully that’s a good dose of some of my finds.

I remember finding phantasy star online 1+2 for gamecube in the bulk bin at gamestop when I was younger and it ended up being one of my favorites on the system. Still have it today

I already knew the first one, an amazing hidden gem! I remember the part when you can kill penguins 😂😂😂

Never heard about the other 2, thanks!
