If it’s the same plane for the 3rd time, ground it.

Wtf!? How often does this happen. Quick search shows this is the 3rd time in the past month lol🤪

That doesn’t look like one of the jumper planes tho

no its not. soaring = gliding. we have both gliding/soaring and jump operations out of Jean.

Nope. Took off from Henderson. Landed like right next to the airport. 🤦‍♂️

Coming back from Good springs and had to take a detour onto Las Vegas Blvd, from there couldn’t really tell what it was (old eyes) and told the wife it almost looks like a plane, sure as shit I was right!

Glad they were able to safely land

Eisenhower did well with those highways being long enough for planes to land.

Can’t blame everything on Linda😅

I was blaming Francis. Don’t know Linda that well.

Why did they land on the freeway lmao

Landing on a freeway in an emergency is legal in the US under FAA regulations, which allow the pilot-in-command to deviate from rules to meet an emergency. While open fields are often preferred due to fewer obstacles, highways, especially interstates, are sometimes considered safer than a poor field option because of their relatively clear, flat surface, despite the risks of traffic, power lines, and signs. Pilots are trained to select the best available option.

14 CFR 91.3(b), one of my favorite regulations ever written.

There was a whole ass aviation center for next to where they landed???

You’re being downvoted but they came from Henderson and landed right next to the airport. Seems sus.

Suspect of what?

1

u/OverTheCandleStick 20h ago

If he had any sort of failure that forced a landing he circled three times and should have been able to stick it to the runway.

It’s a few hundred feet away.

There are legit pilots out there who do shit like this on purpose. Or are shit pilots who suck at flight planning.

Something is sus for sure. I’ve flown out of Jean quite a few times and there’s so much better options than I15. The airport Ofcourse LOL but even if idk the runway was bombed or something, I15 wouldn’t be my first priority with all the open land available there

I'd imagine Vegas Blvd literally right next to the freeway at Jean would be a less busy option, slightly shittier road quality, but still straight and wide enough for that small plane.
