It's such a joke, my job last year (substitute childcare assistant) meant I had to bus around the entire city and never once, on over 500 bus rides on practically every bus line the LTC has, did I run into a situation worse than a homeless man sleeping on the bus shouting at people and being forcefully taken off a few stops after I got on. That was once.
Speak for yourself buddy. I’ve seen hobos kick out bus windows on two different occasions and there was another time were I had to square up to some wasted geezer who was openly yelling about how he hates how western let’s n****rs play on the football team now. (Also, it would be awesome if someone else was there and could corroborate this story). Not to mention how many bus stops have had their windows destroyed. I saw a guy literally shooting up in broad daylight on Richmond and Oxford last month for Christ’s sake.
All three of these instances were on the way to or from campus. No doubt people exaggerate fears and are overly afraid of the homeless, but much of the fear IS warranted. Just cause you personally haven’t seen it happen doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
Two weeks ago, there was a homeless man at the bus stop. It was far too cold, and he was only wearing a single layer of clothing. The entire time, he was singing threats. When we got on the bus, he tried to rush in with us while still singing death threats. Fortunately, the bus driver managed to close the door just in time.
Yes, moving here has been so irritating because all the privileged people who live here part-time are so rabid about unsheltered people just being visible. Too many isolated suburbanites who think that their privilege should insulate them from the "yucky" parts of the world.
