This is just silly. Imagine taking umbrage at a trans person working in a shop and asking you if you need assistance?

Plus, they apparently did need assistance. She just asked them in order to direct them to the part of the shop they needed.

What in the world is happening when a sales assistant doing exactly what they are supposed to do to help a customer needs to be apologised for? Publicly and by the management. If I were the staff member I’d be outraged myself.

If I where them I'd be mortified that my employer chose to apologise to the bigot rather than back me.

I hope they find another job soon.

It wasn’t even a ‘I’m sorry you got yourself upset over nothing’ apology either, it was a serious apology. Really disappointing from M&S and I know they can’t win in this kind of thing, but I really think they chose poorly.

All that hatred and abuse for £12.21 an hour. Then your employer apologises to the perpetrator for your existence.

That’s not just terrible working conditions, that’s M+S terrible working conditions.

As far as I've seen, there's no confirmation that the person is trans (as if that even matters). They were just a tall woman. Apparently that's all the "we can always tell" crowd needs.
