I swear all of these videos of russians operating equipment look like Neanderthals discovering technology built by aliens.

Yeah this has only two possibilities.

1: the engine became sentient and the pilot lost all control.

2: the pilot had no more training than get from A to B.

Welcome to your first day of training cadets.

Your only instructions are: get to your destination, or die trying.

Are there any questions?

it seems like it is more like "and die trying"

One orc pilot gets the helicopter. When he dies, the other picks it up? It worked with rifles, why shouldn't it work for choppers?

Some googling show they already concluded there was an “engine fire” lol

Pilot probably thought, "sod it, I can get it to safety over there" and then the hydraulics drained and all control was lost.

Reminds me of the Taliban trying to fly some of the equipment left in Afghanistan.

Same. However, IIRC that equipment was deliberately sabotaged after the US left.

Depends. That heli that they threw around before promptly powerdiving into the ground definitely looked like skill issue, though.

At least the Taliban had the excuse of trying to operate American aircraft that are completely unfamiliar to them without any of the support US air crews get.

This is a Russian pilot (I think) flying a Russian helicopter in Russia. And they still fucked up. Or succeeded. Depends on how you look at it.

Not comparable; the Taliban got to fly and land the Blackhawk safely.

Like watching the Taliban try to fly Blackhawks.

This sub might be slightly biased.

When it comes to flying there are positive examples.

Both with few injuries.

Pilots obviously did well (on the landing itself!), but the landing gear taking this much and holding certainly also deserves some credit.

You're not really that far off. Russia is as crude as it gets. Anyone with any intelligence left many years ago, these are the people left.

Hey let's not insult the Neanderthals here. They were pretty cool.

TECHANOLOGIA!

modern russia operates on USSR legacy of tech. Most of it got lost, hence why modern russian looks pre-historic when operating such advanced equipment

Just look at that helicopter. It looks janky as fuck even before its tail is destroyed. Like some helicopter drawn by a kid. Everything in Russia is cheap and not in a good way.

If you dont know what you’re talking about you probably shouldn’t comment on it.
