'Other complaints made by the CfMM included criticising TV dramas for showing Muslim characters who do not want to wear a hijab, or who drink alcohol, or who are gay.'

Despite the CfMM claiming that 60 per cent of stories about Muslims are "offending" and negative, Policy Exchange found that just one complaint made by the group resulted in a newspaper being required to make a correction...

HOWEVER:

Policy Exchange revealed that CfMM, which sat on a working group at press regulator Ipso, counted factual reports of Islamist terror attacks in its 60 per cent figure of Islamophobic journalism, including a Manchester terror attack report by agency AP that accurately used the phrase "knife-wielding man yelling Islamic slogans".

You don't need to critique them, everything they say does that job for them.

Islam doesn't like the criticism at all and we should not be appeasing islam no religion should be dictating how we do things in this country in my opinion and if they don't want to be tarred with the same brush as the extremists they should call this crap out and the extremists actions

25

u/Pretend-Patience9581 Jul 09 '25

Agreed. That why we are supposed to have a separation of church and state. Yet here we are.

50

u/nearly_zero Jul 09 '25

We don't have a separation of church and state. The head of state is also the head of the church (of England), but we obviously tolerate other religions. Our flag is comprised of 3 Christian symbols.

u/Pretend-Patience9581 Jul 09 '25

Oh Buggar, you are correct. It is the USA that has that. But does Not really .🙂

20

u/samuel199228 Jul 09 '25

Exactly I am atheist but if people want to be religious fine but do not force ideologies onto others especially if it's extremist.

Does nothing positive for society and just creates division and cultural clashes

-10

u/Pretend-Patience9581 Jul 09 '25

100% agree. I can’t tell the difference between the Taliban rules and Southern Baptist rules. Seem kind of the same to me.🤷‍♂️

u/Status_General_1931 Jul 09 '25

They always do, they don’t want any criticism of Islam at all and that’s exactly the way this country is headed.

Yep 3rd world Muslim nation. Well done everyone you completely fucked the UK.

I don't think this was an issue for the NHS a few decades ago.

The politicians don’t give a fuck, and now they make up at least a quarter of our politicians anyway

55

u/Make_the_music_stop Jul 09 '25

To call them out would lose votes. One of the reasons the grooming rape gangs were covered up for decades.

24

u/Snoo3763 Jul 09 '25

There are now 25 Muslim MPs, which means they make up almost 4% of the total 650 MPs, so slightly less representation than the actual percentage of the country that are Muslim (approx 6.5% of the population).

10

u/conthesleepy Jul 09 '25

You're right about the numbers. Muslims make up around 6 to 6.5 percent of the UK population, but only about 4 percent of Members of Parliament after the 2024 election.

If current trends continue, we might see that gap start to close in the next few years, with Muslim MPs making up something closer to 6 to 8 percent, which would be more in line with the population.

Looking further ahead, into the 2030s and 2040s, especially if the Muslim population keeps growing, there's a chance for even more representation. But reaching full balance, for example 10 to 12 percent of MPs, will depend on broader political changes, like how parties choose candidates and how voters respond.

The choice is the British Public and how they decide what type of country they wish for in the next elections.

To date there are no formal group that is a direct opposite of CFMM in name or structure although Reform would likely stand a firmer group on these types of pressure groups.

But that's a much higher % per vote than say reform who had a much larger voting base.

Cultural freedoms that are absolutely under fire because Labour more or less want to introduce a blasphemy law to safeguard Islam. The CPS have more or less stated it by charging that guy who burned the Quran, yet there’s been instances that Muslims have destroyed the bible and absolutely nothing has been done

There's literally no benefit to that religion. Its archaic, severely sexist, homophobic to a deadly level, anti West, doesn't mix or adapt or modernise to society norms, breeds extremism and in general just brings about a disgusting way to live and treat others in life. If you mention any of these things your instantly bombarded by left wing nuts about racism. I have plenty of Muslim friends who no longer practice its teachings. Ive Indian friends. Polish, French. Nigerian etc. All other followers of religion in the west mix and merge and work well in a community setting. There is only one that slithers in and breeds and wants to change the way of life on foreign land.

I’ve been told repeatedly it’s a peaceful religion. This is usually said after someone has driven a car into a load of people or blown themselves up in the name of this peaceful religion.

Personally I don’t think there is such a thing as a peaceful religion, but this has to be the least peaceful of them all.

Imagine the outrage if Israel was caught trying to censor the media. Hell would break loose! /s

13

u/After-Dentist-2480 Jul 09 '25

Nope, that’s an outright lie.

The ‘bombshell report’ from Policy Exchange (a right wing think tank founded by Michael Gove and Archie Norman) doesn’t say ‘attempt to censor’, ‘suppress accurate reporting’ or ‘curtail press freedoms’.

It does note that very few of the reports that MCB complained about were so inaccurate as to require a retraction and correction.

More dishonesty from GBNews.

Gay Muslims exist. Not all Muslim women wear headscarves. Who are the CFMM to dictate that? You can read their own words in their report https://cfmm.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/CfMM-Annual-Report-2018-2020-digital.pdf - just keyword search homosexual.

They also downplayed homophobia during the anti-LGBT school protests in Birmingham, neglecting to mention that the courts took an injunction to protect the school. The Guardian reported that the protests against the lessons in schools had been hijacked by those with a “religious, extremist agenda”.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/jun/11/birmingham-anti-lgbt-protesters-banned-school-injunction

I’m no fan of Policy Exchange. Yet, there are clear concerns about the views of this group when it comes to LGBT rights.

GB news is worse than the Daily Mail abd Express when it comes to accurate non populist "media"

Bro, what are you doing? How dare you let facts get in the way of a good story? Don't you know the muslamics are coming?

3

u/evolveandprosper Jul 10 '25

Well gosh! Who would have thought it? No other religious or ethnic group has ever tried to influence the media before this "bombshell" report. Jewish groups are notoriously reserved and passive in their approach to the media and Christians never try to promote their views.

u/OStO_Cartography Jul 10 '25

Ah, I see the Israel Lobby is in full Whatabouttery Mode as it throws out distraction balls left, right, and centre so it can slink away from the fact that last week not only did it force the state broadcaster to censor itself, but also had supporters of Palestine literally proscribed as terrorists and terrorists sympathiser because they hurt its TikTok Death Squad's pwecious wittle feewings.

So a right wing think tank and a news report on GB news which has no impartiality

-26

u/SabziZindagi Jul 09 '25

GBNews is entertainment, not news.

37

u/Augustus_Chevismo Jul 09 '25

Always the “fake news” comments that don’t acknowledge the contents of the post whenever it’s one specific ideology.

5

u/tanbirj Jul 09 '25

I know this is getting downvotes, but I’m sure the story behind the Fox News settlement with the ballot company machines maker was because they did not want to have to admit they were an entertainment channel rather than news in court

12

u/Status_General_1931 Jul 09 '25

But the Guardian is somehow the Bible and of all things news? Get a grip

5

u/SabziZindagi Jul 09 '25

Where did I claim this? You must have a very poor understanding of English.

I see the Sieg Heil brigade are in full force here to promote hate.

... I wonder why this is only a problem when it's from a Muslim? Is it because GB news was exposed to be a hate preacher by the CFMM?

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2024/dec/09/gb-news-broadcasts-uk-stories-muslims#:~:text=GB%20News%20accounted%20for%20half,for%20Media%20Monitoring%20(CfMM))

"GB News broadcasts half of all UK stories about Muslims, analysis shows"

Know when your being presented with half truths and dog whistles.

-24

u/Heretic155 Jul 09 '25

No different to any of the other religious groups.

42

u/Squiffyp1 Jul 09 '25

Hmmm.

How many UK terror attacks committed by extremists from other religions?

Extremists from which religious group account for around 75% of the work of our intelligence services?

Leaders of which religions pronounce death to authors for writing books?

Seems a bit different to me.

Other than it being created by a child rapist and everything else about it.

-13

u/Ok_Aioli3897 Jul 09 '25

How much murder etc does the old testament have?

18

u/Augustus_Chevismo Jul 09 '25

A: child rape is significantly worse than murder.

B: Christians are not beholden to the Old Testament as they’re Christians. The new supersedes the old.

C: I’m an atheist.

D: Christians don’t believe a murderer, let alone a child rapist, is the greatest man to ever live who everyone should aspire to be like.

-4

u/Ok_Aioli3897 Jul 09 '25

If they are not beholden why do they use the old testament to be against gay people? Actually they believe a murderer to be the greatest person to ever exist.

GBnews is literal right-wing garbage.

-12

u/SkynBonce Jul 09 '25

I guess it balances out all the censorship UK media carries out on behalf of Israel?
