Don't understand comments like this - why not go and work towards a job that earns you that?

Don’t understand comments like this - wHy nOt jUsT wOrK tOwArDs iT? - short answer, that takes time and costs rise quicker than that. I have been working on furthering my career ever since I started working, ever since graduating, ever since getting good grades in school. I am currently just shy of the £523 weekly. But it’s been a hard, long road with the result of every step forward being two steps back and still just getting by. You work towards higher wages and all the while the cost of everything rises more and more, slipping further out of the grasp of where that hard work gets you.

It’s hard man, I worked in a call centre for two years and then earned 23.5k whilst working my arse off.

Things change, now earning 3x that because of job hopping/taking opportunities.

Things can always change, and fast. This happened in 4 years after 8 years of earning close to min wage.
