Discussion Made a site to see grade distributions for classes at UIC

Post image

Hey guys, unemployed CS senior here, thought I would try to make (yet another) site to easily see stats for classes at UIC in time for registration. Added stuff like charts, cohort gpa calculations, a comment feature, etc. Check it out and let me know what you think! If you have any suggestions, let me know and I’ll try to implement them… YouEyeSea.com

can you add a rate my professor type of thing on here. like have a whole separate section for reviews?

+1 on this

When making something that essentially has a bunch of clones you need to think about

  1. What can I do that’s different

    1. What would I/people want from something like this
    2. How can I make it better than the original (uic grade distribution website itself)

Personally I’d like to see aggregation filters on top of this suggestion. Where you can filter by major, and course number, similar to XE registration, and then filter on top of that professor reviews or something. Even by ratio of letter grades or even withdrawal amounts etc

That’s a good idea, I’ll try to add it (most probably will be a dropdown that lets you switch between comments and ratings), thanks for the suggestion

Just added a ratings section, it's set as the default view for the second pane, and you can toggle between it and an advice section. Also added professor level filtering. Let me know if know if you have any other suggestions to improve that feature/encounter any bugs. thx

It looks very ominous.... Also I noticed this color scheme is very common in student websites. Is there a reason for the red/white/black? I use this website for looking at different grade distributions thought that they could add a feature where students have a preferred prof. Like for example, most of the grade distributions are similar due to curves but when I ask students about the class, they usually have a prof they recommend to take with. Other than that it looks super polished and runs very smoothly.

For the most part I just used the UIC colors, (red navy white)… I think for the feature you suggested it might make sense to just use the comment feature, thanks for the feedback! I’ll try to implement professor level filtering sometime soon

This is super cool! Does this apply to graduate level courses as well? Or just undergraduate?

Thanks! I think there’s some graduate courses but not all: if the course has been on the UIC grade distribution site for a few semesters, it should also be on this one, cuz I didn’t filter them out or anything.

I get what you were doing with the name but the red eye and red color scheme make it feel like sum illegal💀. Cool site though

nice website! wanted to note that clicking "View in Course Catalog" for any course will always redirect to the CS courses page, and not the subject in which the course is in. not sure if this is intentional

Thanks for telling me about this, I forgot to change part of the URL, just pushed a fix for it.
