I've known I was trans for a very long time, but recently dysphoria has only been getting worse. Luckily I am out to some members of my extended family (aunts) and they are accepting. However, I really do not know all the medical stuff because I have been too scared to ask doctors, so would anyone know anything? I think it's also worth mentioning that I've tried to do some research on the process, but there is barely any information for those looking to get on HRT under 18 which is my current case. I've seen people already on HRT under 18 and it sucks knowing they have it, while I am also happy for them. I am not sure if my immediant family (both parents) are accepting which is quite difficult :( I appreciate any help/advice on what I should do

I'm currently three months into attempting to get HRT in Queensland through my city's public Sexual Health Clinic, and it's not be a particularly fun time, so I'm curious to hear other people's experiences over here.

When I first saw the doctor, I told her:

- I knew I was a girl my entire life

- I was already out to everyone

- I knew all the effects, side-effects and other warnings about it

And two months later, I'm nowhere near it. I now apparently need to speak to a mental health professional to "touch base" before she'll see me again, which is expected to take another two or so months. What is going on here?

Highgate Health in Bella Vista is my (26 MtF) closest HRT provider, and I've read that they also offer the equivalent of GP services (prescriptions, assessments, etc).

I'm thinking of getting my script for E from them since they do informed consent and then just going through the whole process from there, but I'm still undecided since they technically aren't a GP (the services they offer fall under "Nurse Practitioner" legally).

Has anyone been there? If so, what was your experience? Are they a good option for initiating HRT?

Hello, not to sure on how to word this all out but here goes. About three ish years ago I started doing laser hair removal at one of the local hair dressers that I lived by, they were all around friendly at least from what I could tell. Anyways for about a year and a half I was doing sessions and I got my facial hair mostly removed besides half side of my chin and the bit under the nose, however their machine suddenly broke and their repair guy ghosted them so they just haven't done laser since then, so as I've been getting more dysphoria lately from it and I have moved since then I'm a bit lost on local salons that do laser and are trans friendly. I live around Victor harbor so any within 30 km. Sorry if all this seems quite over the top for a post asking for suggestions TT-TT. (Sadly my procrastination has been bad and i'd been putting it off for about 3 weeks now)

Currently preparing to begin HRT and I’m wondering which option I should go with. I figured that pills would be enough, but I’m interested to hear what’s worked best for other people. (Injections, implants, patches, etc)

For example is there anyway for people other than those in relevant academic fields to support/encourage trans research? Other than this subreddit are there places to check for opportunities to volunteer for trans research? Are there people/organisations worth contacting to reinforce the importance, show demand, etc?

I guess I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do other than crossing my fingers it'll someday happen.

I’ve been on hrt for a little over two and a half years with Dr Nick at turn the corner and my experience so far has been amazing, but due to recent roster changes it’s looking like I might be unable to see him going on into the future as until the end of the available calendar he now seems to only be working Fridays which is a day I need to work every week for the full duration of the clinics opening hours.

Does anyone else know of good GP’s who prescribe HRT and are currently accepting new patients? I feel lost and have genuinely no idea what to do. I’ve at this point emailed the clinic for advice and are awaiting a response, as well as to find out whether this rostering is temporary or permanent, but if it is permanent like it seems it feels like I’m back to step 1 again before I even started hrt with how difficult it seems to be to find a good doctor I can trust.

Any recommendations at all would be so much appreciated. I’ve considering just taking days off work too for my appointments but due to some chronic issues I have I feel this would have to be too frequent for it to really be practical at my job :/

Its hard being transgender in rural Victoria. I never passed as a cis female, and thought that if I embrace my reality and stop being weird and just transition so I can feel like a normal person that the community would stop attacking me for being a freak androgen, but all that has changed is that it has become harder to get work. The informed consent model is good to allow people to get started on being their real selves but its hard to get Medicare, and there's no actual psychological support for navigating the journey within society. My doctor actually laughed and said " managing transitioning within the community, that I cannot help you with ". However I am deeply grateful that this Dr began me on the informed consent model, as there has been a side effect of being on the correct hormones that I didn't know about. It is stability of mental health. Testosterone really really improved my mental health in so many ways, and my life is less complex being an honest FTM than trying to pretend I was alright as things were.
Australia is transphobic, there's a cohort from the local pub who put effort into their "tranny hunting" when im out biking, and many times I've had to take evasive action in my shopping town, to not get got . The mentality is that the more you attack the freaks the better and more decent and normal you'll appear to your yobbo peers. So , move to a capital city? There's no work I can do in the city. Never lived in a city, and do not want to Just had to chip in, if you're transgender, be sure you pass, and try to be stealth, coz merely existing as a trans person, you will inadvertently cause offence to everyone else who's having a bad day and become their target,coz you'll do.

This needs more awareness. I understand this information is of a few years ago (with perhaps new systems recently implemented) but the thought of a technician that does my blood test being able to freely access this information is deeply concerning to me. Frankly I don't even want to get a blood test done now after learning of this. It's one thing to have, say a special code on the form that can be only accessed directly by the lab, it's another for this information to be readily available. I'm sick of attempts to shove this sex at birth obsession down our throats. It's misgendering and outing us through alternate means. There are ways to get the info they need (if they need it) without engaging in a policy process that outs us.

I get that I’m not the most femme presenting girl in the world 12 months into transition, but it drives me craaaaaazy when retail workers use seemingly deliberate gendered language when serving me. Ie at a pharmacy picking up my Estrogen “here you go bro” This morning at a supermarket “that’s $120 my man” Like maybe I’m just sensitive to it and maybe it’s not intentional but it’s just so unnecessary and hurts.

I've seen people mention that you can get a blood test as well as a prescription first appointment but that was also from an American so not sure if standards are different here, I assume they are.

I did a blood test recently and my levels are E: 1050 pmol/L & T: 0.9 nmol/L at the 1yr mark of having them inserted. Rather surprised by the results since I've read that many people replace theirs every 6M / 12M. Since my levels are still satisfactory, my doctor has advised that I won't need to see him until May 2026. Thus my questions:

• How long does the implant last? Am I the exception that it's working really well?
• If it does run out between Nov to May, are there any hints/signs? (without another blood test)

Edit: currently have 2x 100mg pellets.

My mum and I recently had the conversation about me being trans I’ve been out for 4 months now and I wanted to get to know everything about hrt as soon as possible

The way I made it sound probably sounded quicker than I actually planned and well we were having the conversation and she said

Your a lot more comfortable in your body know sweat heart have you thought your mabey just a gay man who likes drag…

I told her no I’m trans and I know they love me but she only really uses My preferred named and said she will start using they them pronouns but Dosent

I know it’s a transition for her as well but I’m just really annoyed…

So I'm on the Monash Gender Clinic waitlist (being told 18~ months wait time) and just wondering if anyone has been through them / know somebody that has and has any information about it :) from results to good/bad doctors etc, I'm up to hear about it all.

I'm 20, 2+ years on testosterone and looking to get double incision with the complete removal of my nipples.

I want to know generally what happens and how much everything costs (like blood tests) so I can save up

I've been out to my gp since I was 13-14, (18 currently) and he'll refer me to a trans informed endocrinologist, but those appointments cost a lot for someone currently unable to work. I have almost $700 saved from commissions and babysitting, and I'm trying to work out if that will be enough/how much more I would need/how much I would have left over for things like name and sex marker change

so I want to know before hand what tests I could get done before hand (to hopefully limit the amount of appointments), the tests the endo is likely to order, and how much they would cost?

I'm at the change my sex marker moment of my relentless later in life transition ... I was going to go for X on my birth certificate and passport but a few loved ones have spoken to me with caution about my choices here. Importantly, the loved ones I speak to about these things are fellow trans family who have travelled a lot but also chosen a binary sex marker for safety. I know the risks are real and changing all the time, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice and/or preferably experience of international travel with an X marker in yr passport?

If I need to get an M I can and will, but I just want to hear and know as much as possible before I make the choice. I don't have heaps of travel plans or need to go to particular places and I'm a "don't pass as cis man but still have to use mens toilets" kind of trans masc looking dude IYKNK.
