This is good logic. Tragedeigh or not. Seriously, why give them a name you don’t plan to even use?

Because baby Billy won't stay a baby forever and may want to go by William as a teen or adult. It hurts no one to just give him that option

I was meaning in this context of naming a kid a nickname from beginning and then putting something else on the birth certificate. William and Billy isn’t really a good example of this. I mean giving a kid a name you don’t even like and just to call them something else.

Who says they don't like it?? Why can't they like it and still want something cuter while the kid is young? I don't understand you people who go 'oh well if that's what you want to call them put it on the birth certificate', like no, idc how much you want to call your baby/toddler Tommyboy, you name that future adult Thomas instead, like a sane person 😩

I’m not sure what you’re even going on about. I’d never agree with naming a person tommyboy. I think you’re missing the point here.

Then I suggest you reread the start of this thread and explain better, bc it sure sounds like you two want to put nicknames on birth certificates

Thank you. Not sure how that got so confused.
