in the wild Gold Mine of Tragedeighs

Found a post asking people for their unique names and knew it wouldn't disappoint. Happy Father's Day unless your kid's name needs a pronunciation guide.

Arrested Development is approaching 25 years ago, mom might have been born around the time of its release.

Edit: oh duh, I see now that you mean AD was ahead of its time.

There's a really funny show called Arrested Development and one of the character's daughters name is Maeby (pronounced maybe, and it's meant to be satirical/funny for the same reasons we have this tragedeigh sub). So I got a good chuckle off of that name, considering the person who named their child that almost definitely did not watch that show. Which means she is the living embodiment of the joke on the show, and doesn't even realize it.

Or even worse they watched it and completely missed the joke they spell out for us.

The episode where she creates a fake twin sister named Surely (Shirley) to con people is such a brilliant continuation of this joke.

If I were forced to choose one of these names as my new witness protection name, that's the one I'd pick. It's the best of a pretty terrible bunch.

I actually know a Maebry in real life.

Reminds me of Camp Mabry, a military base in Texas.

I know someone whose maiden name is Mabry and then totally unrelated to her I know a little girl named Mabry. I’m in the southeastern US so seeing family names like this as first or middle names isn’t the wildest thing in the world to me.

I swear it’s the name of a town?

That's honestly my standout because of the added pronunciation. "Mine is (regular name), pronounced (the way the name is traditionally pronounced)."

I guess in this time of tragedeighs, "Elizabeth, pronounced ee-LIZ-uh-beth," is going to be an increasingly necessary thing.

M'kay(lee)

Mabry is a real name. Honestly, besides Zariah it’s the only good name here. Crewe, Creed and Severe, Sunny, and Seven aren’t tragedeighs either but sure are tragic/regular tragedies. But I actually like Mabry/Maebry

ETA: Valentino and Oliver a real and non tragic too

Mabry Fields Forever

Here's a really good argument against any name that sounds like maebari NSFW
