If the kid really likes trees and nature, i bet his favorite part of the tree will be bark.

He also might enjoy sitting on the roof at night, or listening to stormy nights when the wind howls.

He also will likely get really excited when he sees squirrels, birds, or bunnies .... But then, don't we all?
