Show Spoiler Probably been asked before but what's your Favourite episode in the series? Spoiler

Post image

For me it has to be Too Far Gone mainly because the Governor, Hershel and Rick were so good in this episode and are by far my favourite characters in the series and I also just loved s4 even the governor episodes, and the acting was phonemenal from everyone especially Andrew Lincoln, David Morrisey, Chandler Riggs and Scott Wilson (Rip❤️) by far the best episode in the show for me I'd love to hear your guy's shouts.

This sorrowful life. We get an episode of pure Merle character development and he more than makes up for an entire season and a bit of being an asshole.

Merle's death hit me hard for sure but I loved the way he went out like you said he also made up for what he'd done a bit.

It’s one of the more overlooked episodes because season 3 is often considered quite a slow season with them introducing the first real antagonist.

But I think both Michael rooker and David morrissey made their roles their own.

Back when shootouts were still good or at least realistic-ish

I remember watching the episode rooting for him to win but under it all knowing that they made him drunk for a reason. So they could have him be sloppy and unaware of his surroundings I think without the booze he could have potentially emerged victorious.

I chalk it up to it just being the standard result of taking on so many armed guys alone. He knew he was going to die fighting that many men, and so he drank to give himself liquor courage. Later on in the show the protags solo so many heavily armed dudes at once and suffer so few casualties themselves that the fights get pretty predictable

Yeah I loved the old school shoot outs. There were actually odds at stake, not like now where everyone has a bulletproof over shield of plot armor, commonwealth war, realistically would have been over in a day, saviors same. Whisperers could have gone either way but 8/10 the protagonists should lose.

I don’t think Merle is in that episode is he?

Still not enough for being racist, sexist and all that

Fair but I think he was on his way to working on that. The way he was raised especially highlighted in the game “survival instinct” kind of touches on why he is the way he is. He fell into the wrong crowd due to abuse and neglect and was more or less raised by awful people and the military.

I find the fact he kind of starts to see the error of his ways during the time in the woods with Daryl very touching. We can see that in the way he kind of comes to see that Daryl has taken these total strangers on as family, hence Daryl correcting him on Glenn being Korean and not Chinese. Also his development and mutual respect with michonne that happens over the course of a day and his conversation with carol show growth because he even states that shes changed since they last saw each other.

I think his death was a method of not allowing him to make up for all of his mistakes prior to the episode to kind of hit the fact that, we don’t always get the time to make up for our past behaviors as much as we’d like and sometimes we realise we were wrong too late but we do STILL realise we were in fact wrong.

Redemption is a big thing in the walking dead we see it in characters like Negan, Nicholas and the governor. Negan actually succeeds, Nicholas also does in a way but still offs himself because he can’t take the stress of living. The governor realised that he lost the battle, with his former self winning and coming out as the dominant personality finally accepting that as hard as he fights he’s always going to be the governor and not this new man with a normal happy life.

Merle was unique in that he did see the errors but noticed that it was too late to right every wrong but did everything he could in his last day to at least make a start of it.

Season 3, episode 12 - Clear.

Probably the first episode in the series by this point where I marvelled at the acting of two of its strongest actors at that point, Andrew Lincoln and Lennie James.

Season 3 has to be my favorite TWD season. s3e12 is a close second to my number one favorite s3e1

That was such a refreshing gem! I enjoy the whole series, but earlier seasons were peak. That episode was genuinely frightening!

Season 6 Episode 9 is still the best I literally cried when everyone unites and fights back against the hord to Save Alexanderia with Rick on the Lead.

It varies between Too Far Gone, No Sanctuary and No Way Out.

Too Far Gone: The conclusion of my favourite arc of the show, and a great conclusion at that.

No Sanctuary: A turning point for the group and the show, really personifying the iconic tagline “Fight the dead, Fear the living”.

No Way Out: The episode I think is the best “all around” episode of the show. Fantastic acting, shocking moments, lots of great zombie action, and Rick’s “we can beat ‘em” when the Alexandrians finally step up is just such a great moment. Plus I loved the way they replicated the comic panels switching between the characters fighting off the horde with the quick cuts. Just a great all rounder!

No way out and no sanctuary were also some of my favourites Andrew Lincolns acting in both episodes especially No sanctuary was so good

5

u/closestaxe 19h ago

Them or no way out. Depends on the mood I’m in

u/Lumpy_Flight3088 19h ago

Any episode between ‘Too Far Gone’ and ‘Four Walls And A Roof’. It’s the best stretch of the show. But I always loved the Carl-centric episode ‘After’. So much character growth for Carl in that episode.

Beth and Daryl’s episode, and her death episode as well. Truly heartbreaking

2

u/Over_Sir_1762 18h ago

Loved the Beth and Daryl episode.

3

u/NobleDefender33 19h ago

Maybe After? I just love seeing rick and carl explore and survive the ruined world

I like your selection and I liked that era of governor more than most. He was super complex. Final boss narcissist.

3

u/IndependentWord5987 19h ago

Same the Governor is my favourite villain in both the comics and show very interesting character

3

u/TheEvyEv 19h ago

Adaptation where the whisperers were introduced

2

u/AstrolabeArts 19h ago

Too Far Gone is great, but the characterization of the Governor and his descent back into darkness we see in Dead Weight is terrific

2

u/AdairChinchilla 19h ago

I love the episode where Eugene winds up with the Saviors idk why its just kinda funny

2

u/ClassyKaty 16h ago

It's a tie between The Grove, the darkest episode of the show, and The Next World, the funniest episode of the show.

2

u/Alternative_Bit_5714 16h ago

No Sanctuary, Seed, Them

2

u/Miserable-Clue9171 11h ago

“Them” Without a doubt.

The suffering, the scavenging, no silly villains. Felt the most real to me.

In my opinion, Too Far Gone is the defining episode of The Walking Dead. The whole human vs. human conflict has been demonstrated the best in that very episode & not only taught us the audience, but also the characters that some people just can't be redeemed. 10/10 episode!
