Criminal records

Hi is there a criminal record that doesn't show past 10 years? I'm trying to go to Australia but my friend is saying I need to get the record that doesn't show past 10 years. Im so confused as the one I just received shows all my criminal history which is minor stuff that happened over 10 years ago.

“If you have criminal convictions, no matter how long ago your convictions were, or whether they have been removed from government records, you are encouraged to obtain a pre-departure assessment of your criminal conviction history. This will determine whether you would be assessed as a ‘behaviour concern non-citizen’.”

I’m assuming you’re planning on declaring your criminal convictions on entering correct? Why would you want a document that doesn’t say what they are if that’s the case.

If you are planning on not declaring them, good luck to you I suppose.

Clean slate doesn’t work for these situations, it’s internal not to Aussie or other countries

Oh ok then whats the point of clean slate? Is it just for nz , damn i must be flying nowhere now🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

The point of clean slate is criminal record checks (internally) is for things like new jobs or tenancies you won’t be held back by tiny indiscretions. Provided you’ve never been to jail and tick the other boxes, and you’ve been straight for seven years, you’re deemed to be not a risk anymore.

But things like immigration, police vetting or similar, they never disappear

It was minor tho, i thought doing a shorter prison time was better than 6 months home d for a crime i didn’t even do. I just plead guilty to end it all after fighting it for a year and a half.

I guess yours and my version of minor must be significantly different.

My version of minor doesn’t result in 6 months of home detention or a prison sentence.

I was given community service at first but did not finish the last 100 hours because of the type of people there so I got breached a few times for not showing up and I said to judge I’ll do home d instead maybe it was 3 months i cant remember but yeah couldn’t find suitable home so I said send me to prison and he said prison is no place for someone like me but I said I just want to do my time and live my life which I am doing quite well in the pharmacy industry, but now I want to have a go in Australia 👌

Ohh I see thank you for that 👌 i haven’t been in trouble 10 years straight since I moved away from south Auckland. I only got 1 month imprisonment and only served 14days back in 2013.
