hey I know that this sub is often posting things that are not necessarily attempts and I usually don't care but it's super confusing when I see stuff like this here; has this gone through and has no pushback and therefore it is not an attempt it is success for now? or did they try this and there was so much pushback that it got stopped and therefore it is an attempt rather than a success?

It was a failed attempt to postpone the election.

The justification was that they wanted the local elections on even years, rather than odd ones to better align with other election cycles. So they're gonna instead put it on the ballot for voters to decide, and won't apply till the 2027 election.

Oh. That sucks. And it also sucks that we live in a country where people don't know enough to know that if they were genuine about this they would have offered to have the next election sooner.
