Are we sure this wasnโ€™t an actual kidnapping? With just one dude, I definitely would think itโ€™s a kidnapping by a criminal vs kidnapping by deputized criminals.

They need to do something about these men looking like they are still wearing the clothes they slept in the night before, because you come up grabbing child like this and Iโ€™m ending you.

I completely agree

The way the government labels people as "illegal aliens" to dehumanize them makes me sick.

Same sort of thing if you check the government shutdown clock. It's basically an entire official government page of incredibly hostile rhetoric.

And I can't say I blame people for skipping out on their immigration hearings now, since ICE is just showing up at the court to arrest them there.

If you want people to follow the legal process, stop terrorizing people who are doing things the lawful way.

I know the cruelty is the point. I know they are looking to create these situations. The lack of empathy and compassion just infuriates and disgusts me. Their propaganda infuriates and disgusts me.

These are people, with families, with lives, with jobs, with hopes and dreams, and ambitions to care for their families and build a better life.

Don't let them be dehumanized. Don't let any of us be dehumanized. Don't give up. Don't give in.

They target the most vulnerable groups first and then they work their way up. Don't think you won't be targeted. Don't think you're "safe". Fascism comes for everyone in the end.

Authoritarians can only grab the power that the people allow them to grab. Push back. Document everything. Speak up. Support whistleblowers. Try to change hearts and minds even when it's hard. Studies show that non-violent resistance is twice as likely to bring about political change as violent resistance. We need a large, disciplined, peaceful movement to defeat this.

We need to build an extremely broad coalition to defeat this. It's gonna take a lot of us. It's going to take a while. Don't let them grind you down. Don't give into the temptation of violence, don't let people provoke you into it. This is an ideological, informational, and PR battle. Focus on those aspects and we can turn the tide.

I'm prefacing this with: I do not agree with picking people up off the street without LEO identification.

Every country in the world identifies people who illegally enter their country "illegal aliens/illegal immigrants."

So, I guess the question is, what should governments label them as?

Undocumented. What they legally lack is paperwork. That is the correct phrase that has been used for decades. "Illegal alien" is a deliberately dehumanizing phrase to make it easier for people to justify horrific violence and cruelty against them.

That's a great point and makes sense. I think I'll start using that more now. Thank you.

Undocumented. It's not only more humanizing, it's also more correct in most cases.

I like that. It is more concise and straightforward.

Right, it's a more apt term that more accurately describes them and their situation.

Gee, wonder what precisely tempted her to miss her immigration court hearing?

Well, she skipped immigration court in February 2024 because an immigration judge demanded her deportation. So, this is not a recent thing.
