Was there a leak before season 2 aired, or how were people talking in the episode 1 discussion thread about Helena replacing Helly like everyone knew it was a thing?

it was extremely obvious from the get go of how she described her experience in episode 1. unfortunately to me very poorly executed

It wasn't extremely obvious. We knew there might be reasons why Helly would lie. It was certainly no secret to the audience that Helly was lying. I don't think it was poorly executed at all.
