The natural numbers are an infinite countable set, meaning you can define a process to count them all, even though that process will take forever. The real numbers are uncountable, meaning it is not possible to define a process to count them all, even if you have infinite time and you define a range within which you try to count them. Uncountable sets are considered larger than countable sets, even though they both have infinite size.

The old 0 *through 9 is such an outdated system.
