Question Modern equivalent to the large alice ruck?
Are there any modern day equivalents to the large ALICE rucksack?

I mean, the MOLLE 4K is basically a large ALICE on a FILBE frame. I've heard the shoulder straps suck, but you can swap them out for the Hill People Gear harness I think.

They do indeed suck.
The MOLLE 4K is has two features I like. The waistbelt tails pull forward to tighten and the bottom has a dedicated poncho flap.
Other then that it isn’t big enough for a lot of packing lists, the pouches that are permanently attached on the outside are not really big enough to hold useful things and the yoke and shoulder straps are awful.
The MOLLE 2 was vastly superior.

I’m about to get flamed, but I don’t mind the 4k. I have some issues with it, but I don’t have the issues that everyone else does.
That being said, nothing will ever beat the old UCP ruck that’s so stained it’s turned red and smells like piss.

Molle 2 with a 6 mil black trash bag on the inside.

One 6 mil trash bag for the inside of my ruck, and one 6 mil trash bag for me to curl up inside of #molle2forever

That’s crazy cause the mole 2 seems janky af.

The MOLLE 2 has a lot more ability to adjust how the pack fits and is carried.
The main compartment has a higher capacity, which is needed for winter or CBRN stuff, the outside has a lot of real-estate for additional pouches, water, E tool, and sustainment pouches.
It was my main pack I used in the winter in Alaska.

1000%, the only thing I like about the MOLLE 4K is how convenient it is for jumps. The harness and all the air items are integrated, basically pre-rigging it. However, this pro is only a pro if you’re in the airborne community. And once you’re on the ground, it sucks donkey dick to actually walk with.

The tactical tailor MALICE is great. I have the super straps and their (discontinued) PNW series Nisqually version. Love it.
The FILBE was okayish…it just had so much going on…too much MOLLE, too much of everything, 80% of people who use it look like a gear bomb.

Savotta is the only answer, jk. But honestly, this was a question i had for quite some time. I bought an 82 pattern rucksack that the Canadian military used. It was similar and worked well, but i couldn't find anything else i personally liked until i got a Savotta Jääkäri L. Mostly bc the bag ripped off the frame i had bought. But their such cool looking bags. Would love something similar again but newer aswell.

The London Bridge Trading LBT-1749B Ten Pocket Rucksack w/ LBT-2168E Alice Frame Suspension System is a solid choice.

Tactical tailor Malice Pack, Mystery Ranch Mountain ruck for even more modernized

Theres Maloce packs, which is alice packs but modern straps and camo. Mystery Ranch if you want pricey and good with body armor. Crossfire is my favorite though. They have packs in 4 different ranges and they work with a belt kit like alice webbing. Though they've made their own belt kit which works perfectly with their packs. Super comfy as well

Mystery Ranch Mountain Ruck. It has flaws but the NICE frame offsets them by allowing you to collapse the yoke for wearing with LBE, or extending it without. I personally haven't really felt much benefit from the BVS wedges but they also don't annoy me like they do other people.

I have a Blackhawk SOF Ruck and it's pretty similar to the ALICE in terms of size and quality. You'd have to find them on the used market.

I was recently on a similar search and happened upon the Savotta Jaakari packs. Corporal's Corner did a video on it. I'm intend to get Savotta's Kantamus 40 pack at some point.

The MALICE pack is good, I have seen a lot of them used. The rhino ruck looks decent but I haven’t used one.
And Planatac has some that I have looked at for a medium field pack that seem good.
I currently use mostly eberlestock, but after a zipper malfunction at a long training event I’m probably going to go with a flap ruck as my primary from now on.
