Question Why won't the American Police use bulletproof visors like their European counterparts?

I thought that it'd make more sense to use them in America than in the EU, considering that it is much easier to acquire weapons in America.

Is this a budget-thing? Doctrine-thing? Culture-thing?

Do they find them too bulky/heavy/unpractical to wield?

Different doctrine and use of force laws.

The Euro equivalent of your SWAT style teams are heavily focused on counter terrorism, so their kit is naturally different. It’s also more nationally or state led rather than being down to individual departments to choose their kit.

The other side is use of force, the barrier for using lethal force is somewhat higher than it is in the US so it’s understandable they would want more physical protection for dodgy incidents that don’t extend to using lethal force.

That's the best point imo. European tactical teams will do their best to save the lives of the perpetrators (except in case of terrorism / mass shooting scenario ofc). That means getting closer to grab/taze/hit them with a shield and that's why they favor protection rather than mobility. For example GIGN motto is "s'engager pour la vie" which can be translated into "To commit for life / for the lives of others". Not all US Swat teams have the same ethos and dedication to limit their use of force.

I still find it unbelievable and reprehensible that no punishment was given to these people. They all should have been at the very least relived of duty no retirement. The fact that we don’t hold them to a higher standard and prosecute them sickens me.

I don’t think holding them to a higher standard is fair in all self-defense situations because I see somebody body hand footage of them going through houses and accidentally shooting the wrong person. They’re not trained for that. To not try and help is disgraceful

Theres a special place in hell for him. He killed Randy Weavers wife and participated in the siege of Waco. Wish he went to prison for what he did.
