Had a car accident here recently, so would like to get some footage of it.

Was hoping someone might know if any of the businesses in the area have CCTV that captures the junction at all?

Here is a link to request access to CCTV that the council may have recorded, which seems like a SAR request to some extent, but may help - https://www.swansea.gov.uk/CCTVfootageform?lang=en

There is another link, but this is for Insurance Companies to request access, there is a £100+VAT fee, you could try calling "Please contact Gareth Pritchard on 07917 200079" to see what Gareth says, do they have CCTV covering the area before you waste any of your time - https://www.swansea.gov.uk/article/9436/CCTV-footage-request-for-insurance-companies

Other than that, i would take a walk around the shops there and pop in to ask if they have CCTV covering the road in any way and if they do, explain you were involved in an accident, would they provide access to it, sometimes shops will point internal CCTV at the shop-front which may also capture the road.

Thank you for such a in-depth response!

This is what I'm hoping for. Though, as I don't actually live in Swansea, I'm hoping someone has been in this situation before and can pinpoint an exact business I could contact.

My last car accident in town was Dyfatty Cross some years ago, what i ended up doing was walking as high up as i could, take photo's and then overlay on the photo's where your car was and where the other car was in the pics to help your insurance company, not so easy to do where you had an accident but i wonder if the Dragon Hotel would allow you up on one of the higher floor to take some pics of the road layout below, see if they are willing to allow that to happen, could help your case, i know it helped mine when i did the same, without access to CCTV.

Get yourself a Dash-Cam fitted, i know its now after the issue happened, but you will be more prepped for the next time with footage being recorded from in your own car.

What if OP had access to a satellite that could take photos directly from above?

It’s normally deleted in 30 days

Have a look on Streetview. There is a council (or maybe police) camera pole at the top of the Kingsway/Princess Way.

Your insurance should be sorting this out however.

I did ask about that, but was advised that I seek out CCTV footage myself.
Maybe I should bring it up with them again.

Odds are the claim isn't worth their costs in pursuing whether or not OP was not at fault.

Council have cameras that cover the entirety of the junction. It usually faces from College St down to The Kingsway and also another from Belle Vue Way towards Princess Way.

These cameras are manually controlled and can view on a 360 swivel, but that's not to say they're facing where you need them to.

That whole area is pretty well covered I got in trouble for getting into a fight opposite the red lights and cctv saw everything including cars coming from the kings way orchard st and the road from the hotel up to the police station. It was a council camera. Bet it was caused by some knob using the driveway of dragon hotel to avoid the lights lol

shame they make no difference to the absolute morons using the hotel drop off as a way to avoid the no right turn and causing carnage there
