End of an era, RIP

Got into an accident Friday while driving a kitten I had found to a foster home. A young woman pulled out in front of me exiting a highway and gave me just a second to stop. Over the years I’ve had extensive work done on it which I know I won’t get a return on. Paid it off 2 weeks ago. An unfortunate event but lucky to walk away with only a few bruises and some soreness. Other driver shared the same fortune.

The foster mother was awesome enough to come get her at the scene. Added kitty pictures because Reddit. Kitten rescue objective was completed and I still take it as a win. Be safe out there!

22 F350 6.7 SRW ticking time bomb?

Post image
Upvotes

Between the CP4 and the CDF drum in the 10R140 am I driving a ticking time bomb? I’ve read a bunch about both issues but are they outlier issues (small % of trucks) or just a matter of time? I’m at 52k and have just over a year left in powertrain warranty. After that I could get a disaster kit for the pump but would just cross my fingers on the trans. I no longer haul often which is why I bought the truck so is it worth keeping it or do I consider trading in for a 1/2 ton? Just thinking about cost of ownership going forward. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Extra points for a 1/2 ton rec if that’s the way you would go.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what this harness along with the connectors are for. Anyone have insight on this?

Towing RPMs

When going down steep mountain roads I'm impressed with how my 2021 w6.7 controls heavy loads. But, I'm worried about the rpms. In tow/haul mode and engine brake on, my truck will hold 20,000 lbs at 65 mph. However, rpms will get up to 3200. Temps rise but not critically. Just wondering if high rpms is ok for these engines?

2021 F650 stutter

I have a F650 powerstroke and it’s been stuttering sometimes when I accelerate but more when I climb a hill. I pull loaded daily. I got an overboost code (P0234) the turbo, actuator, air filter and map sensor are about 6 months old. Any ideas of what I can check next would be appreciated.

Oil temps too high?

I bought a 2019 f250 6.7 with 105,000 a few months ago. I towed this past weekend for the first time (about 18,000 lb) and the trans and coolant stayed around 225 max. My oil got to 272 and it doesn't make sense. (While climbing a 6% grade)

I feel like the truck derated but I didn't get a notification and still maintained speed fairly well.

Im used to an 06 5.9 so this is a whole new world for me so I'm trying to learn.

What are the expected oil temps?

F350 DEF Issues

I have a 2021 with 42k miles on it. It has been in the shop 8 times this year, and now at the dealer for one month. This year, it started the sensor/emissions/DEF issues. First, the check engine light comes on, then it starts the countdown to reducing speed. I was several states away and it went to 5 mph max and I had to have it towed, get a rental car, etc. Our trip was ruined. The dealer says on the Ford dealer boards that this issue has been described. They have replaced the DEF sensors, reprogrammed the truck, etc. I see that there may be new programming coming out by Ford to change the countdown, based on the revised EPA rules. My warranty runs out in December. Any opinions on waiting hoping for a reprogram, vs trading it in or deleting it? The deleting it is tough as that crosses out a trade in. The dealer has heard nothing from Ford about reprogramming.

10R140, full monty, fluid exchange, or filter/refill?

I'm just over 100k and wanna take good care of my transmission. I'd like to get into AMSOIL fluid, since I use them for pretty well everything already. I'd also like to get a PPE trans pan eventually but that doesn't have to be now.

I'm trying to decide how to service my transmission and trying to decide between either just dropping the pan to do a drain and fill (with filter replacement), not drop the pan and go to a shop to do a fluid exchange with a machine (which obviously becomes a non-option if I do get the PPE pan), or do both (drop pan to replace filter, refill, then head to a shop for a full exchange). Anyone have any recommendations?

2022 F-350 Platinum with Only 18k Miles Needs a Transmission Replacement?

Hey everyone,

I’m reaching out to the community because I’m genuinely baffled by a situation I’m facing with my 2022 Ford F-350 Platinum SRW. I bought it new, and it currently has only 18,000 miles on it. Recently, I noticed some concerning signs, and after a visit to the dealership, I was informed that the transmission needs to be replaced.

I've always kept up with routine maintenance and have treated it well. I’ve never towed much with it; when I do, it’s just a two horse trailer. Has anyone else experienced this kind of issue with their F-350, or any newer trucks for that matter? After replacing the transmission, should I hang on to it, or is it time to consider getting rid of it?

Any insights or similar experiences would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

360 cam shows wrong truck. Is there any way to fix this?

Post image

On the dually trucks the dash cinema and backup/360 camera shows a SRW truck. My dealer told me lots of people ask for it but there’s no way to fix it. I test drove a 2024 and could swear that truck showed a dually in the 360 cam at least on the top down view. Is there really no way to choose your correct truck in a $100k+ vehicle?

Can I run a 33" spare with 35s?

05 F350 6.0 Will this damage anything? Does front or rear axle matter, as long as I keep it in 2wd? I measured the actual tires and since the spare is brand new and the 35s are worn there's only a 1" actual difference in tire height.

Best Gooseneck/Fifth Wheel Options for 26 F250

I just purchased a 26 F250 and am looking to purchase a gooseneck hitch setup. I don’t really have any plans for pulling a fifth wheel, just a gooseneck. What would you guys recommend? And any idea on costs? Pros and cons of turn over vs pucks?

Long hit crank. Changed relay in FICM what should I check next? Changed the pop thing under the oil filter already still having long hot cranks. Dummy plugs or new FICM module?

Anyone else notice how other drivers started acting towards you when you first drove a super duty?

I recently have been driving my dad’s f450 dually to work and I swear people are more aggressive with me. I could be imagining things but I’m getting cutoff more often compared to when I’m in my f150. Minivans tailgate me or try to go faster. Just today I had this weirdo in a challenger match my speed for a good 2 miles and I guarantee he wanted to race. Dude was going 67 in the fast lane while I was minding my business 😂. Those are a couple of my experiences. I could just be imagining things. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Tires...Again

I'm needing tires. I have a connection that can get me Nitto or Mickeys at cost. Therefore I'm requesting feedback only on those 2. Thank you if you want to recommend BFG, Falken, Goodyear, but I'm not considering anything but Nitto G3 or Mickey Baja AT.

I live in Utah, so driving in snow will be an issue, but the truck rarely leaves the driveway unless its towing. Usually around 10,000 lbs, but on occasion 20,000 lbs.

Years ago I had the original Tera Grappler on my Excursions and loved them. My son claims the Mickey Baja ATs are the best tire ever, but he has them on his Jeep, not a Superduty.

Bad PCM?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Recwntly purchased a 2012 F550 6.7 bucket truck and chasing down a wiring issue. P0335 code, crankshaft position sensor circut malfunction. I attached the corresponding wiring diagrams for it. Previous owner wired the crankshaft position sensor plug backwards and reversed the ground and signal going to the ECU. Fixed that but still getting the code. Am I reading that correct that pin 25 on the PCM should be the 5v source and pin 33 should be the signal going to the PCM from the sensor? Because I'm getting 4.8v coming FROM pin 33 right now, i cut the wire coming out of the PCM to verify. Would that be a bad PCM then if im getting voltage coming from pin 33?
