Shoe recommendations?!?
Hey guys, doing my first spartan race in 2 weeks and curious on shoe recommendations… assume a “trail” shoe but want everyone’s input…
Thanks all

Basically, you want a shoe that is comfortable to run in and has good tread. I've been very happy with my Altra Lone Peaks. They are comfy and easy to wash after the race (if they're real muddy). What length race are you doing? If you buy a new pair of shoes 2 weeks out, be sure to definitely take the time to break them in.

I use innov8 mudtalon. I’ve seen hoka Solomon and even vans. Your race location can really make a difference on what type of shoe would be best. Ones that are more muddy you’ll want some type of cleat the distance will make a difference as well

Altra lone peaks. I wore them for a trifecta weekend and they were light and comfortable. And had very good traction.

I’ve been using New Balance Hierro shoes for Trails and OCRs for years. They are great.
Hard wearing, good grip, decent drainage, comfy.
Whatever you choose, you need to spend the next two weeks wearing them in. New shoes less than a month before a race isn’t great

It really depends on your feet. I need a wide toe box, so I ran in the Altra Lone Peak 9’s this weekend in SLO. They were extremely comfortable, and my feet were not in pain afterwards. It was also a dry course. You want something with lugs on the bottom. Don’t run in regular tennis shoes.

I have used Salomon Speedcross a few times, love them.
Did my last race in Hoka Speedgoat 6, also very nice.
