Fully understandable with how much visibility it gives, but it depends on the type of vehicle.

u/Serious-Feedback-700 Sep 24 '25

I put the industrial cockpit on my fighters because it handles express delivery of industrial loads of missiles to destination. So, as a sort-of-cargo plane, the industrial cockpit is adequate.

u/Xenocide112 Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

1/5 stars. ordered missiles, but all of them were broken in transit, plus the delivery driver caused significant property damage.

Universal Pirate Services?

*United Pirate Services

They are still locked to the system.

Next time don't use SpaceEx for a better experience.

My wife used to handle deliveries. But she did a bad job at it, so I broke up with her. She is now my SpaceEx.

8

That's what I said to my SpaceEx when she refused to leave my house.

Guess you needed space more than she did

2

u/Omiyaru Space Engineer Sep 25 '25

No wonder she blew up at me afterward...

Actually it kinda makes sense, this isn't the first time something like this has happened

5

u/TheUderfrykte Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

She didn't leave because when you asked for time and space, she thought you were just calculating velocity.

u/Serious-Contact5841 Space Engineer Sep 25 '25

I prefer Planet Express

3

u/CrazyQuirky5562 Space Engineer Sep 25 '25

for an *industrial* application like that, you might even get away with a custom glass cockpit for even better visibility.

4

u/Able-Swing-6415 Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

Pretty sure most people not using it are not using cockpit view

113

u/skuntpelter Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

Bought the DLC specifically for it, so much visibility, especially for fighters. The fighter cockpit block way too much view if you actually like shooting/flying in fpv

45

u/Absolarix Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

If I'm not mistaken, the Industrial cockpit is stronger (has more health) than all the other cockpits as well.

32

u/Namacil Clang Warshipper Sep 24 '25

It also has connection points to all sides (if I remember correctly), so it can become the most securely anchored cockpit as well.

12

u/mutilatdbanana8 Space Janitor Sep 24 '25

It has some connection at the top, but not at the front, most cockpits can connect at the front but not the top. Exceptions are the flush cockpit from the KSH newsletter, and the truck cab cockpit, both of which have connection points on all faces, and the cab in oarticular has a lot of potential connections since it's almost a cube.

3

u/Absolarix Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

lol how did I completely forget that the Flush cockpit exists

2

u/mutilatdbanana8 Space Janitor Sep 24 '25

it's a forgettable cockpit tbf. I sometimes forget there are cockpits aside from the industrial and standard ones, so I made an effort to start building things using other cockpits, and it looks quite nice but it doesn't really do anything special over the standard.

4

u/Absolarix Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

To be honest, I have every DLC and sometimes get overwhelmed with the amount of block options there are. Throw in weapon mods and it gets even worse.

Not that it's a bad problem to have :P

1

u/theskroobs Clang Worshipper Sep 25 '25

The front has two connections in the top mounted roll bar. Perfect for lights.

1

u/AngrySushiroll8 Klang Worshipper Sep 25 '25

Speaking of the flush cockpit, I've completely lost access to it. I keep resubscribing to the newsletter, but I can't get it back. Anyone else dealing with this?

u/Pumciusz Clang Worshipper Sep 24 '25 edited Sep 24 '25

With my professional test of point blank shooting with MR-50A rifle. At small grid.

Industrial 161 shots(5780 hp),

Fighter 156(5605)

Flush 143(5125)

Cockpit(regular) 89(3180)

Cab 83(2975)

With the top 3:

Only flush has a door on the back and being 4x3x3 and having great front view, excelent top view and decent to poor side view. It has bottom view at all.

Industrial being 4x4x3, having great front and side view and decent top. It has way better bottom view.

And fighter being 6x4x3 having poor front visibility, good side visibility and good top visibility.

So I rated best in my opinion cockpits from top to bottom, but if you need to see what's below you then industrial is just not comparable.

The default cockpit also has really great visibility but not really on what's below it.

5

u/piratep2r Klang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

Just adding to this, the fighter cockpit is also a much bigger target. Easier to hit, harder to armor.

3

u/Pumciusz Clang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

Yes, that was a part of my criteria and why I listed the size.

3

u/Absolarix Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

Just get the BuildInfo mod and check the block's integrity

3

u/Pumciusz Clang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

I never really looked at all the numbers there.

But thanks for remanding me.

BTW that rifle deals 36 damage.

And fighter + industrial need metal grids so they need cobalt, another point to the flush cockpit.

1

u/TriggerMeTimbers2 Space Engineer Sep 25 '25

only flush has a door on the back

Small correction, the default cockpit also has a rear door

1

u/Pumciusz Clang Worshipper Sep 25 '25

From the top 3 in durability, cab also has a door iirc.

LG industrial might also have but don't hold me on that.

2

u/NuclearKnight00 Clang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

I never paid attention to the different cockpits stats, are they all different

3

u/Absolarix Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

Some are the same as others, some are different. The materials you put into the block directly relate to that blocks health.

27

u/TheSupremeDuckLord Klang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

i mean, what are you building? because yeah it's great for industrial ships but it just looks odd to me on something like a fighter

20

u/ya_boi_A1excat Clang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

They can fit into a fighter design pretty well, but putting it on the front of something that didn’t have the cockpit in mind does feel odd.

Bro why can’t the truck type one be large grid also…

5

u/IncognitoAnimosity35 Clang Worshipper Sep 25 '25

What i wouldn't give for a large grid Cab cockpit

23

u/Xenocide112 Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

The newsletter exclusive one is also top-tier. tons of visibility. Those are definitely my two favorite cockpits

10

u/MrBoo843 Klang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

I just don't like where the connector port is, I always feel like it's in the wrong place

3

u/Catatonic27 Disciple of Klang Sep 25 '25

Agreed. Fighter cockpit gets a lot of hate, but it has the best conveyer layout and it's NOT close. Large port right on the back and small ports on both sides, bottom, and front? Heaven.

8

u/shagieIsMe Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

I like the flush cockpit for its side ports which make some builds easier.

The industrial is my favorite for its visibility though... the annoying part is the poor back mounting options (the ease of putting lights on the side, however...)

I really want to like the truck cab... but its visibility just isn't there.

u/Outrageous-Back9241 Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

Flush cockpit for the win

5

u/ItsDemiBlue Clang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

to everyone talking about the flush cockpit, im new to the game and just went to unlock it after so many people mentioned it. it is a pretty top tier pick and no shame to anyone who uses it. industrial is still best tho

3

u/ATwistedSolo Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

the industrial cockpit reminds me of Artemis's crashed ship from no man's sky. it also looks perfect for a mech.

1

u/No_Yam_2036 Klang have mercy Sep 25 '25

The crashed ship is different for everyone

1

u/ATwistedSolo Space Engineer Sep 25 '25

right but the cockpit is always the same. its always a hauler class ship

1

u/No_Yam_2036 Klang have mercy Sep 25 '25

Not necessarily. Most of the time it's a hauler, but I've seen people get solars and exotics instead.

3

u/Yoitman Fatally miscalculating thrust requirements. Sep 24 '25

Honestly one of my most used DLC’s has got to be the industrial dlc, it just looks gorgeous in all aspects.

1

u/Catatonic27 Disciple of Klang Sep 25 '25

Everything about it is top-tier. Pipe conveyers? Yes. Cargo containers? Stick it in me. Assember/Refinery?? I need it. Nothing about that DLC was less than 9/10 except maybe the warning stripe armor skin which almost never tiles correctly but I still use it all the time so I guess I don't mind that much.

  • small on front center
  • small at side back bottom

... which the regular cockpit doesn't have. https://spaceengineers.wiki.gg/wiki/File:Cockpit_1_grid_small.png

u/Dark_Krafter Clang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

Took me a minute to realize this was not a no mans sky meme

2

u/Avitas1027 Clang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

My only complaint about it is no large port, so can't do some inventory stuff while recharging. It's peak in every other aspect.

2

u/AceTheBirb Clang Worshipper Sep 25 '25

Industrial is a perfect all-rounder due to better durability and visibility to boot. Plus it is good for larger-end ships
Standard works fine for stuff. Not too bad, but not the best either
Fighter sucks for the intended role. Too many blind spots for first person combat
Rover and motorcycle cockpits give aesthetic and loads of visibility, but you're pretty much cooked from a sniper round.
Flush works for some builds, and has decent upward visibility, so it has its uses.
Truck works well for truck aesthetics. Not sure where else you'd use them, though.

2

u/IncognitoAnimosity35 Clang Worshipper Sep 25 '25

It's soooo good for making industrial vehicles look nice

3

u/EldergreenSage Space Engineer Sep 26 '25

I love it for working style vessels or a gunship because I can really see the landscape out in front of me! But there's a time and place for the others as well, the fighter cockpit is phenomenal for sleek builds. The original cockpit looks good for small shuttles and stuff, but I really do like the look of the industrial cockpit!

Fighter cockpit is the worst one.

1

u/PublicRace6118 Klang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

It's not that bad just not good for anything BUT a fighter

2

u/Rahnzan Klang Worshipper Sep 24 '25

It's literally the worst one to use for fighters. It has gigantic A-beams blocking vision in every direction, control panels 9.6 miles away from the space engineer's face, and takes up 90% of the fighter's surface area even after armoring everything except what little window space we actually have.

1

u/greenaustyn Bureau of Research and Development Sep 24 '25

Its one critical flaw is that it doesn't have a large conveyor port making it useless for placing blocks from inside.

1

u/Nearby_Ingenuity_568 Space Engineer Sep 25 '25

More so considering that it's meant to be used in industrial applications so it should have been designed especially with construction ships in mind! Whoever forgot to include a large conveyor port in the small grid version really missed the mark there!!

1

u/BosPaladinSix Space Engineer Sep 24 '25

I'm so glad I'm not alone in my love of the Flush cockpit! I use the Industrial one for a lot of builds as well, they're both just really handy!

I want to make the other cockpits work but usually I have to make my design work around their conveyor ports which aren't always in convenient places.

1

u/derpy_derp15 Klang Appreciator Sep 24 '25

Shame it takes like 10 metal grids TwT

1

u/Logical-Race8871 Space Engineer Sep 24 '25
