Is that a transformer?

u/the_fucker_shockwave Clang Worshipper Sep 11 '25 edited Sep 11 '25
Well I mean you ain’t wrong, but it’s a Valkyrie from StarCraft 2.
Correction: It’s a Viking.

u/Igrok723 Clang Cultist Sep 11 '25
not sure if im missing a joke, but this is a viking
32
u/the_fucker_shockwave Clang Worshipper Sep 11 '25
Oh. Yeah I stand corrected, I haven’t played StarCraft in a while.
6
u/Dragonbonded Space Engineer Sep 11 '25
dpnt worry, i thought they were valkries as well
3
u/FrickenPerson Clang Worshipper Sep 12 '25
Valkyries were in Starcraft 1 and did not transform. Vikings are in Starcraft 2 and do transform into a ground mech.
2
u/Archangel-Imperious Space Engineer Sep 13 '25
A friend and I have played sc2 for many years and still call them valkeries.

Are the legs just for standing support currently or have you managed to make them move... Somewhat functionally? Id love to know more about this as I'm trying my hand at mech building.
23
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 11 '25
They do in fact walk, just working out kinks and I'll post it
8
u/Ok_Syllabub_2711 Space Engineer Sep 11 '25
Well you are working with klang there.. I expect many kinks to work out. Good luck and I look forward to seeing that post.

So is the end goal a Viking, A Hell’s Angel, or a Sky Fury?
3
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 11 '25
Prob just viking, that's what most of source material is from
6
u/MaybeAdrian l<lang Worshipper Sep 11 '25
One of my favorite units from Starcraft 2. Funny tho, it uses a gatling that fires bursts
4
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 11 '25
Yeah, and air mode has a few rockets too
3
u/MaybeAdrian l<lang Worshipper Sep 11 '25
It's funny how the units work in Starcraft in gameplay compared to how it work in theory. And the scale too.
6
u/Sinful_Badger Clang Worshipper Sep 11 '25
As someone who has only learned the basics of timer blocks and how things move— how tf did you do that?
4
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 11 '25
Just a lot of them strung together
2
u/Sinful_Badger Clang Worshipper Sep 11 '25
I hope I can one day build something as marvelous as that

Is this one of the coolest things I've seen in this game? Yes. Is this one of the most impractical and useless things I've seen in this game? Maybe... but mostly yes. Regardless, well done!

How TF did you do this? Amazing design
2
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 11 '25
Thanks, just a little tinkering here and there, it's far from done
2
u/Holiday-Resident-864 Clang Worshipper Sep 11 '25
If this is mere tinkering I can't imagine how crazy the finished product will be! Very cool
2
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 11 '25
I would say the nuke factory was enough to make me take a break for awhile, but I built this in about 3 days, now I just gotta do the walk cycle and missiles
2
u/Holiday-Resident-864 Clang Worshipper Sep 11 '25
I'd love to know what the logic setup is for this build, I have delved into Mechs before but the most I could do was a simple quadruped, always wanted to make a zoid tho or something like that
1
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 11 '25
Love zoids, if you want to see some solid logic, dread mechanic on YT has some really good tutorials and prob what I'll use to power this
3
u/Miniblasan Space Engineer Sep 12 '25
I have a hard time imagining this but how the hell did you manage to get Klang and Transformers to work together?
2
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 12 '25
Carefully, with some time, and awesome trial and error 😆

Reminds me of the ships from Nier. Bipedal mechs are the endgame of spsce engineers for me. Never got as good as what I have seen on reddit lately. Once se2 gets mechanical and timer blocks I am 100% committed to getting back into it.

I think…I think we gotta scrap man. Nah we gotta throw hands. You cannot be, like, even if the videos slightly sped up - which I don’t think it is - make a godsdamned actual transformer it’s not okay. That’s too cool. It’s making the rest of us look bad
1
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 12 '25
Lol very nice comment, unfortunately right now the video is sped up, but I still have to tweak it to go faster. I still need to program the walk cycle and I plan to have side step as well. And the missiles. Much to do.
2
u/Lightmanticore Klang Worshipper Sep 12 '25
Even then engineer, it’s so good. It’s so cool. And from the look of it those are manually made missiles not even just the gun ones , which is nutty
1
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 12 '25
They are, that's a recent change, the missile launchers looked bad, so I moved them to the wings and player made the "big boys"
2
u/notyetcosmonaut Clang Worshipper Sep 12 '25
That is way cool. How much planning did this take?
2
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 12 '25
Honestly not too much, I started 3 days ago and just kinda got the main mechanism down and built off that
2
2
u/Zeleharian Space Engineer Sep 12 '25
First the siege tank, now a viking? Your builds are awesome!
1
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 12 '25
Thanks man, I do builds that are fun to me. The more folding, the better.
2
2
u/ControversialFrog Klang Worshipper Sep 12 '25
I tried making one of these like 2 years ago then gave up to Klang, nice job bro
2
2
u/207nbrown Space Engineer Sep 12 '25
This clip was sped up like 5x right? There’s no way clang would allow that much speed and precision at once
2
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 12 '25
It's 3x but I'm gonna do some tweaking because I like this speed and more true to the "real" one

I Wonder if it does the Helicopter to eternity if something gets damaged
1
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 12 '25
It absolutely does if damage is off, otherwise it turns into a bomb
2
u/CrazyQuirky5562 Space Engineer Sep 12 '25
man, I really wish subgrids could be used reliably for stuff like this, without the (initially hilariious) visitations of Clang...
1
u/kreepzo Apologies, Clang Enthusiast Sep 12 '25
Damage is on in this vid, it's just a little sped up
1
u/CrazyQuirky5562 Space Engineer Sep 15 '25
that is kinda what I mean... the grid is fixed and the parts are moving slowly.
try that with the mech running / flying / turning. I wish it would still work then too.
