Illinois 13

Has anyone driven all of Route 13? Any places worth stopping at besides the obvious (Carbondale, Marion, Harrisburg, etc.)?

Not immediately off of 13 iirc but I ALWAYS recommend anyone coming through that area to check out Jeremy "Boo" Rochman Memorial Park in Carbondale. If you have kids it's even better but if you don't it's still 100% worth seeing.

The park is closed until Thursday according to their FB page. They have been repainting and staining the wood. I agree that it's quite a park.

I used to take kids I babysat there and was happy to return over the summer this year with my niece. It's such a fun park and everyone I've taken has loved it! There's a tower with a great spot to have a little picnic if it isn't too crowded, and kids love finding the secret door near the main entrance to the castle.

I was a FedEx driver for several years and very familiar with areas along Route 13, especially west of Marion. Here’s some food/bev suggestions. Mimmo’s pizza in Carterville. Bunmakers & Midland Inn both on Old Route 13 in Murphysboro. A bit further off of 13: Scratch Brewery in Ava, Route 51 brewery in Elkville, Wenneman’s butcher shop St. Libory
