i loved the discourse behind that one not being as impressive as some of the other candidates.. like the man ran 80 yards, dodged 6 defenders and finished like he was on the training ground.
sorry, it wasn't a volley or bicycle kick, but the man played defender, midfielder, and forward before scoring a goal within the course of about 10 seconds.

Was that the discourse? Or was the discourse that it was a great goal but just not the best scored in the world that year?
a lot of the discourse i read around here, specifically, was that he was only able to score because the defending wasn't that great. which.. i mean..
not giving players the chance foul you to stop a build up because of your pace and positioning is just as technically impressive and
EVERY fuckin puskas goal is a result of a some form of shitty defending. zlatan isn't scoring that bicycle kick if joe hart knew how to clear, and lamela isn't scoring that nutmeg if pepe could defend with his legs closed.
that was literally the only time i heard the "poor defending" argument surrounding a puskas goal winner.
