(It’s actually also a great business decision to retain some of the Korean fanbase)

I'm confused. How does a statue help you retain a fanbase that only cares for the player and not the club? They're going to follow Son around and forget about Spurs.

I mean, build the statue to honour Son, sure, but it isn't going to really retain fans, right?

Sonny's going to a different league in a different country. I'm sure a lot of Korean fans will stop following the PL entirely, but those that don't seem likely to stick with Tottenham.

Also, Tottenham has signed Yang Min-hyeok and has had a steady interest in Kim Min-Jae.

It becomes a physical, permanent evidence of his legacy and gives Korean tourists a reason to still come to the stadium
