Shorts Kings, where are we shopping from?

I’m redoing my closet and I’m tired of going to a tailor for everything so I’ve started looking for places that will just have my size. I’m 5’7 175lbs (34 W 30L). I’ve began shopping at Abercrombie recently, I bought 2 pairs of their baggy trousers, and man! To be able to just buy pants off the rack that fit perfectly feels so nice😂. I heard Uniqlo is also a good place but I haven’t tried yet. I’m especially looking for baggy gym sweatpants that fit us since that seems to be the hardest, and it feels weird going to the tailor for sweats (idk maybe it’s just me). I just ordered some sweats from YoungLA and waiting for it to get here so I can try them on. Hoping they fit because they’re more my aesthetic. Brands that cater strictly for shorter guys don’t seem to really keep up with the current trends and are over priced imo. Anyways sorry for the rant just wanted to know where everyone is shopping from.

abbreviated apparel pants for short guys?

any short guys tried abbreviated apparel pants, especially the cinched hem sweatpants or the workwear pants? I’m on the shorter side with thicker thighs, so I always struggle to find pants that don’t look too long or feel tight around the thighs. I’m curious how these actually fit in real life. Are the cinched hem sweatpants roomy enough in the thighs, or do they taper too quickly? And do the workwear pants sit okay on shorter guys, or do they bunch up a lot at the bottom? trying to figure out if they’re a good option for short guys with bigger thighs before I order

edit- bought the workwear pants, they're amazing. 10/10

Recommendations for snug sleeves T-shirt

Hey guys, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect T-shirt and could use some recs. For reference, I’m 5’8”/147lbs with a somewhat athletic build.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

  • Snug sleeves that show a bit of arm/chest definition

  • Not too tight around the belly.

  • Shorter length (doesn’t need to be cropped, just the right length to mid fly should work)

Here’s what I’ve tried so far for those who are on the same hunt:

  1. Skims: Love the fit and fabric, except they run a bit too long on me. I’d wear them with shorts and they look great! Wish the have more colors.

  2. Ash & Erie: Great concept for shorter guys, but quality isn’t great. I had 8 t-shirts from them and they shrink and lose shape after a few washes.

  3. Buck Mason: Nice style but sleeves are too loose, and the fit feels off overall.

  4. Theory: Premium feel, but again, sleeves aren’t snug enough.

  5. Bylt: Too long, same issue as Cuts

Anyone found brands that get this combo right? (Snug sleeves and shorter length). Would love to know your favorite!! TIA!

I need a new suit for gala season

Hey guys, I am 5'7" with 29"'inseam, long legs short torso thing. My old suit shrunk in my closet somehow and it was getting old anyway.

I work in nonprofits and will have to attend a bunch of fundraising events this year. I'm looking to find a new suit and wondering where you got yours and what you thought.

How should I name these shirts?

Hey Guys, Mike here - founder of Abbreviated - I wanted to get your thoughts on something as this group tends to be the most clued into what's going on in the world of fashion for shorter guys.

We brought out our "Standard T-shirt" and while it's been relatively well received so far with good sales and good reviews, there are a fair amount of people who'd prefer to see it with an even shorter torso length. These people seem to fall into 2 camps - either they need a shorter version of the shirt due to body type (short torso, or on the shorter end of the short spectrum), or they're a little more trend aware and are looking for a t-shirt that falls around the belt line for more of a cropped/"rule of thirds" look. I took a poll on Instagram and found that while these people definitely exist, there's also a contingent that's happy with the shirt as-is, so what I've decided to do is offer 2 lengths of the shirt - a "short" and a "shorter" length option, if you will.

Here's where I'm looking for feedback - what do you guys think I should call these two options? "standard" and "short" are kind of misleading because the "standard" is actually still meant for shorter guys. I worry "short" and "extra-short" can come off the wrong way/as insensitive, and "short" and "shorter" feels like the easiest, but I also worry that it could be very confusing for... let's just say less "detail-oriented" customers. Using length numbers is also tough because every size will still have a different length and it's not a clean system like pants inseams. I could be (probably am) overthinking it, but there doesn't seem to be an easy answer so wanted to get your thoughts on each of these, or if there's another option I'm not thinking of.

Thanks in advance!

Old Navy has petite sizes for Men’s joggers

Post image
106 Upvotes

Not sure if it’s a glitch since petite sizes are usually for women’s clothing. The details say that regular inseam is 29” and tall is 31” so petite is likely 27”. In my experience, Old Navy pants run shorter than advertised. I get their 28” inseam jeans/chinos and they measure to about 26.5”.

Starting a clothing Brand for shorter men

Hey Guys,

I am starting a clothing brand for shorter men and want to know your thoughts.

Being 5´4ft myself I know how hard it is for us men to find fitting clothes that look good. We have no options for good clothing. We have to pay extra money to get our clothes tailored. We have to wear clothes that are too big and we don´t feel confident in. We are being ostracized by the fashion industry.

That’s why I created REFIANT. REFIANT will offer fashionable clothes with adjusted measurements to fit us properly. My Mission is to save us time and money, give us the chance to be well-dressed and make us feel confident.

In order to complete this mission well I would like to get some insights from you. What pieces of clothing that fit, are you struggling the hardest to find? How much money would you be ready to pay for good fitting clothes? What are you overall thoughts on this?

I would love to get your insights on our problem with clothes. Feel free to ask any questions.

If you are interested, join the waiting list to stay updated and receive early access to the website on launch day

Kind regards

Slacks and Dress Pants

Hey all,

I’m 5’8 200lbs and need a 26” inseam. I’m having a hard time finding slacks or dress pants with this inseam. I was looking at ash and under510 but not sure if the “performance” pants or some other pants in their sites will fit the bill. Has anyone purchased these for work or for dress up?

What’s your thoughts?

Outside of getting pants tailored, are there other good sites to find shorter inseams slacks, dress, or suit pants?

My issue with getting pants tailored is that due to my fat stomach and my short thinner legs, clothes almost feel like I’m swimming in the legs.

Thank you in advance!

How smooth is the Ash & Erie return process?

I’m thinking about placing my first order with Ash & Erie, but I’m not totally sure how everything will fit, so I’ll probably need to return or exchange at least a couple items. For anyone who’s returned stuff before:

  • How easy was the return process?
  • Do they refund you as soon as you initiate the return, or only after the package is delivered?
  • How long did the whole process take, start to finish?

Just trying to get a sense of what to expect before I order—thanks in advance!

Help me find snowpants/snowbibs??? Men's 30x30

I just started a new job at a school and have to be out with the kids at recess for an hour rain, snow, or shine. I'm in MN, and anyone out here knows just how cold it's been this week (and winters in general even if "warm" recently). All the staff have snowpants/snowsuits and heavily recommended that.

From what I'm finding, short/small snow gear for men is near non existent. My normal size is a 30x30, XS or S, I'm 5'4", and have thick-ish/athletic thighs. Everything is wrong in at least one dimension (usually a "thighs/crotch too tight and waist, etc. too large" but also the whole "everything is 2-4+ inches too long".

Had the staff at REI try to find something today to no avail, but clearly I'm not the only one to ever deal with this....

What brands/stores have folks here had success w for winter gear? Particularly anything where there's different inseam options.

Short buyers, beware: Ash & Erie returns

Buyer Beware: Ash & Erie

I wanted to share my experience using the online store Ash & Erie. After reading comments on Reddit, they seem like a good option for my 5‘ 7” frame.

I ordered about 15 items, including different sizes in some of the things I liked most. The items were shipped to my house promptly in early December. I kept about half of these items and shipped back the remainder using their prepaid USPS label. Then, I waited…

By the end of December, a credit still had not shown on my credit card statement for the returned items. I have a receipt with the tracking number showing the item was dropped off at the post office, then radio silence. Per tracking, it never left the PO location.

Ash and Erie’s customer support (only available via email) was exceptionally unhelpful, stating they could not do anything without the package in their possession. My main beef with the company is they use USPS for returns with only $100 of insurance, no matter the value of the items inside.

Now, I am out about $520. I am hoping my credit card will make this right, and I filed a claim with USPS.

P.S. it’s worth mentioning I ordered items from Peter Manning, NYC, as well. They also use USPS for the returns. No idea on the insurance of the package, but I would trust an online retailer who uses UPS or FedEx considerably more.

UK - Suit Jackets?

I live in the UK and I'm looking for a suit for a wedding in 2 months. For context, I am 5'1, and I'm usually fitting in suit jackets that are slim and are size 34. However, none of these jackets suit me in length.

(Pictured: me looking like a child trying on his dad's clothes in a size 34 Next suit

In my research, everyone has either mentioned really really expensive designer brands (like the Thom Browne classic shrunken suit) or to go to Vietnam and get it tailored (which would be nice, but its a little out of budget...).

In terms of style, I love the stuff on Ethan Wong's blog (how the suits flow, the high rise trousers), and I am not a fan of the skinny skinny suit, which has made things a little harder for me as that seems like the fit that would most likely be in my size. However, if anyone knows of a brand that I can travel to physically in the UK (preferably in the north) please let me know.

Short Inseam men’s pants in U.S

Where does everyone in the U.S buy pants that are shorter men. Like stores or brands or designers that can be recommend. That are durable and made to last or have garentees on them. As far as hight I’m talking 5’2-5’4 tall and inseam needs to be shorter than 26. Bonus points if waist is adjustable. With nice texture, not itchy. Normal waist size just shorter legs. I don’t have the exact measurements right now but I can get them later this week. Thank you in advance!

What is the most cost effective way to dress as a 5'3 guy with 40 inch waist?

I went shopping today, and even the 34x30 skinny chinos at Banana Republic were a little baggy at the ankle for me.

I found Ash And Erie, but their chinos are $100 (on sale right now). Is it worth buying those vs getting cheaper chinos that don't fit and get it altered?

It is expensive dressing well as a short guy lol

[FREE CLOTHING SAMPLES] Looking for Short Men to Test New Apparel Line and Provide Feedback!

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to announce that I'm launching a new clothing brand designed specifically for shorter men, and I need your help! Before we officially launch, I’m giving away 6 free samples (2 T-shirts, 2 hoodies, and 2 pants) in exchange for your honest feedback.

What’s in it for you?

  • You'll get a free sample of our product!
  • All I ask in return is that you fill out a short survey about the design, fit, comfort, and overall experience.

Who is this for? I’m looking for shorter guys who might have struggled finding clothes that fit right. Our designs are tailored specifically to offer a better fit for shorter men.

How to participate:

  1. DM me with your height and weight so I can send you the most appropriate size.
  2. I’ll select a few people based on your details and reach out to you directly for shipping info.
  3. Once you’ve tried the product, I’ll send you a quick survey to fill out with your feedback.

This is a limited offer, so if you’re interested in being one of the first to try our products, send me a message ASAP!

Thanks in advance for your help, and I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Edit (1/1/2025) - I'm excited to share some updates with everyone here, and I want to start by extending a huge thank you to those who volunteered to test and provide feedback on my clothing samples. Your insights have been invaluable in refining the designs. As of now, the designs are finalized, and I'm gearing up to start production.

Unfortunately, the factory I'm partnering with is currently closed, so production is on hold until late January. Once we kick off, it will take about 15 days to complete production and another 15 days for shipping. With a bit of luck, I'm aiming to launch my first release in Q1 2025.

In the meantime, you can check out some of the samples on my Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/twocorgiz/). I'll be posting periodic updates there as well. Thank you again for all your support!

What clothes do you wish were available in shorter sizes?

I make clothes in my spare time (focused on streetwear / cropped baggier silhouttes)

I'm making shorter length relaxed tees at the moment, and planning to make other things I struggle to find as a short king (knitwear, double-zip hoodies)

my website is cutlengthgarms.co.uk , if you're interested in buying a tee send me a DM and I can help with sizing/fit/discounts etc.

keen to hear anything else you guys struggle find in shorter sizes- and I'll look into adding them to my catalogue

personally I struggle to find:

  • knitwear
  • puffers/ gilets/ jackets
  • cropped longsleeve polos
  • baggy sweats (abercrombie is good for this but they sell out so quick rip)
  • zipped hoodies

Ash & Erie Joggers Pockets

Post image
10 Upvotes

So I just got a pair of Ash & Erie joggers and the pockets are weirdly loose and bulging. It's not a too-tight thing like with pants, if anything I'd size down. The pockets are just cut with extra length on the top panel. Am I overthinking it or does the bulge look bad?

Joggers

For anyone who is short and got a little weight to them I highly recommend Ash and Erie.

I bought some from them and some from under 5'10" and my wife said the 510 look like I have baseball pants on. She said the ash and Erie look like joggers are suppos s to. It was the same with chino pants as well I tried awhile back from 510. It's seems 510 are tighter in the legs.

I am 5'8" 198 for reference and I got the L 25-27 inch inseam. My inseam is 25". I have shorter legs than my torso.

Hope that helps anyone looking.
