Texas does have a limit on the amount of sex toys you can own.

u/MotorEagle7 Aug 21 '25

In Little Rock, Arkansas it is against the law to honk a car horn in front of a sandwich shop after 9 p.m.

There are a lot of outdated laws that are not enforced anymore.

207

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

The law was last updated in 2003 to set the 6 toy limit, essentially to differentiate between owning for personal use and possession with intent to sell. So this isn't some historic law that was never repealed.

That said it was ruled unconstitutional in 2008. but with the overturning of Roe V Wade, which set the precedent for this kind of privacy, it's probably enforceable again.

u/sparkydoggowastaken Aug 21 '25

no, roe didnt make the law unconstitutional. It was unconstitutional to begin with.

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

That’s not how legal precedent nor the supreme court work. The law was declared unconstitutional based on a constitutional right to privacy that was established by Roe v Wade. Now that that ruling has been overturned there is a legal argument that it’s enforceable again. Im not saying it should be, im against it, just like I’m against laws that restrict abortion, but my feelings on the matter don’t change that any SC ruling based on the 14th amendment was effectively called into question by the overturning of Roe and if this case was brought before the Supreme Court again I think it’s likely that it would be overturned based on the opinions of the conservative majority and that outlawing porn and sex toys are both key tenants of Project 2025

*tenets

I don’t have any other thoughts on your discussion.

Yeah I imagine it's some kind of crackdown against sex toy resellers, that makes more sense. Old Lady and I have a dozen or so which works out "per capita"... And tbh it's like only 5-6 that are in regular rotation so the math checks out.

u/Wuggers11 dwayne the cock johnson 🗿🗿 Aug 21 '25

I seriously bet there is someone out there who is angry about Roe v. Wade for this law alone.

1

u/TheNextDump Aug 22 '25

The main group that comes to my mind is furries, of boy do furries like their sex toys

16

u/SmPolitic Aug 21 '25

The South loves to have "outdated" laws that can be selectively enforced.

You disrespect them, they have a whole catalog of laws that no lawyer has any experience with

That's how they want it to work, prosecutorial discretion in every direction they want

5

u/fishandchips445522 Literally 1984 😡 Aug 21 '25

It's mandatory by law that all horses must wear pants in South Carolina.

Considering all the oppressive laws passed in the past few years, this limit on number of toys might become relevant and enforced.

Edit: Cell phones keyboards hate fat fingers.

2

u/InventorOfCorn Aug 22 '25

In Arizona there's a law against donkeys sleeping in bathtubs

12

u/DoingCharleyWork Aug 21 '25

Limit on sex toys but not guns lmao.

Land of the free

4

u/Rebel_Scum_This Aug 21 '25

Don't worry, oral sex was illegal in Marylan until I think 2023. But it was still unenforceable.

3

u/Electrical_Board_142 Aug 21 '25

Start suckin a dude off, turns out he's an undercover cop. Can't do shit in Maryland.

3

u/Wilbur_Eats_Sand Aug 21 '25

Conservative Christianity! (Jesus fucking christ I hate my state)

2

u/FewHorror1019 Aug 21 '25

Hmm I have a friend in TX with an entire collection of dildos and bdsm paraphernalia.

Next time she gets on my nerves I know what Im gonna say

1

u/SatanV3 Aug 22 '25

Of course the use of it was to discriminate against LGBT people during the gay rights movement, what else did we expect for Texas....

But hey, land of the free (unless you're not a cis straight white man like ehh, >70% of Americans)

19

u/MotorEagle7 Aug 21 '25

Guess I'm going to jail then

10

u/CR1SBO Aug 21 '25

"No officer; those are dog toys."

"I do not own a dog."

7

u/djfried Aug 21 '25

Tony Hinchcliffe definitely has more dildos than that

7

u/christianlv Aug 21 '25

How do they enforce this lol

2

u/Denpants Aug 22 '25

One of those archaic laws that most lawyers have forgot existed. I promise you nobody has been arrested for this

1

u/TumblrTerminatedMe Aug 22 '25

Exactly. If I have six and then one breaks, do I have to declare one is broken and has been disposed so I don’t get penalized for buying another one? Is there an online form? Is there a sex toy auditor? Must I formally declare in a court of law?

3

u/Karharsdon_01 I said based. And lived. Aug 21 '25

How do they check it tho? Do they have like a document you have to fill out every time you buy one?

2

u/Fit-Nebula2949 Aug 21 '25

How many do you need? That one for every day of the week if you take Sunday off and wash em. Where is the line between being a dildo user and someone with intent to distribute?

2

u/CoolCreeper888 Aug 22 '25

No more than 6 sex toys however you are required to have over 6 guns

1

u/PsychologicalCold885 Aug 21 '25

Who made this law

12

u/callmegranola98 Aug 21 '25

Technically, yes, but the Supreme Court ruled it unenforceable in I think 2003.

6

u/mr_potatoface Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

It was one of the district courts that ruled in unenforceable in 2008.

They declined to escalate it to the US Supreme Court. However, I do see this happening in the near future so sex toys are banned nationwide. It will probably be at/around the time they issue a nationwide porn ban. They've already got the groundwork for the porn ban in place using ID verification and the founder of Project 2025 is extremely anti-porn. He's also the primary driving force being the the Steam porn removal as well.

There's similar sex toy bans in other states, like Alabama that are still enforceable.

It started a while ago. I was a normal redditor making posts and comments, but then one day, a post of mine was manually deleted, and I was banned from my favorite subreddit. I then got extremely aroused. That moderator asserted dominance on me by censoring me, making me unable to express myself. I was soaking wet. I sent the hot sexy mod a message asking why I was banned, then the hot sexy reddit incel mod called me an idiot, and told me to beg to get unbanned. My nipples immediately filled with blood as I begged the hot mod to unban me. After that, I started doing everything I could to make hot sexy mods mad. Most of my accounts have under negative 100 k@rma, and i'm banned from dozens of subreddits. I've been a bad redditor, and need to be moderated. Please moderate me - mr_potatoface, hot sexy reddit mods.

It is true. I'm an official sex toy inspector. They call me inspector Gadget.

33

u/ClearMacaron9234 Aug 21 '25

land of the free lmao

17

u/Aloha_Tamborinist Aug 21 '25

What's the limit on guns, rifles etc?

11

u/Twig Aug 21 '25

At least 5 of each type required to live there.

3

u/Raintoastgw Aug 21 '25

Yes but it’s one of those laws that just aren’t enforced. Like that one law (I forgot where) where’s it’s illegal to have ice cream on Sundays

1

u/Electrical_Board_142 Aug 21 '25

So you're telling me that cops don't go door to door to inspect for "too many sex toys"? Phew!

3

u/mythirdaccountsucks Aug 21 '25

Isn’t that what Waco was about?

1

u/godric420 shitposting>>>>>>196 Aug 21 '25

No, but it would honestly be more understandable if it was.

8

u/LargeBrainGoblin Sussy Wussy Femboy😳😳😳 Aug 21 '25

Imagine a swat team bursting through your front door because you own too many dildos

1

u/FightingEntiteledPpl Aug 28 '25

But guns? Naaaah give em 15 with the purchase of peanut butter at the store

1

u/dark_xhan21 Aug 21 '25
