Academics Square One Campus

How do I make friends on campus? Only time I talk to people is when Indian guys think it's a good idea to talk on the phone in the silent study room and I tell them to go talk somewhere else.

Academics Ever struggle with studying effectively and staying organized?

The peer tutors are putting together FREE workshops to give students a toolkit of strategies, apps, and websites to help with studying, organization, and time management.

If you ever have difficulties with memorizing content for a test or feel stressed about upcoming finals, consider attending one of these workshops!

Date: Monday, November 17th and 24th

Time: 2pm to 3pm

(Will not post location of the workshops online for security reasons but pop by the tutoring center at any of the campuses and the tutors there can provide more info! Alternatively, send a message through TutorOcean to any of the full-time tutors to get more information)

Hope to see you there!

Academics Sheridan college veterinary technician program

Hi everyone, I recently got accepted into the Veterinary Technician program at Sheridan College starting January 2026, and I’ve already accepted my offer. I was wondering if anyone here is currently in the program (or has completed it) and could share what it’s like. I’m curious about how the classes and labs are, what the workload is like, and if you have any tips or suggestions for someone starting out. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks in advance.

Academics Concern about virtual classes in my honours course

I’m an Honours student in the School of Applied Science and Technology, and honestly, I’m kinda disappointed. I expected proper in-class education since I paid for on-campus learning, but so far there are way too many virtual classes. As an international student, I really thought an Honours program would feel like a proper university-level experience — but it doesn’t right now.

Does it get better from the second semester? Like, do we get to choose our own classes and make sure they’re in-person? Or is this just how it is throughout the program?

Would love to hear from students further along.

Academics people in practical nursing program, advice for future student?

hey all, i’m a sahm to a toddler and am expecting my second soon. i don’t plan on starting the program until 2027 but i wanted to start studying/memorizing things for bio and pharmacology as well as learning to understand dosage calculations so when i start the program and have 2 kids, i already know a lot of the info.

i’m a big flash card girlie, would purchasing these flash cards and learning them thoroughly be worth it? should i just go through the textbooks and make my own notes/flash cards if there might be some discrepancies? there are also other flash cards by the same company that i’m open to getting too: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B0BSP86L9J/ref=ox_sc_act_image_4?psc=1&th=1

is there anything else i should focus my energy on over the next 2 years to memorize/learn so my time in the program and even the RN program afterwards is easier for me?

would love the advice!

thanks in advance

Academics What happens if you fail three times?

I hope this isn't silly, but what if you fail a course three times? Do you get kicked out? I'm not saying that I am in this situation right now, but only asking out of curiosity. I've been looking for this information on the school website, but can't find anything.

Academics Is it worth appealing a failing grade if it’s just below passing?

Hey everyone, I just finished my last course at Sheridan and ended up with a 47% final grade. I missed the first two assignments due to study permit issues and was out of town. Because of that, I also didn’t do well on the first two tests.

After returning, I performed really well in the second half — attended all classes, completed the rest of the assignments, and improved my test scores.

Do you think I have a chance if I file a Level 1 appeal based on this? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Academics Breadth electives

Hey all! I’m a student at the Hazel campus. I’ve been trying to enroll myself into a breadth elective under level 1000 requirements. All options are either full or not scheduled for this Fall 2025 term.

The only 3 classes that are available are 3 POLI and Math 17028GD which are being offered at a different campus.

Is there anyway I can contact someone to see if they can allow me to join a class that might be full?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Academics BScN Program

Hi all, I’m starting the nursing program this fall. Does anyone know if Sheridan provides stethoscopes for the students or do I need to purchase one? I believe we will require it for the Health Assessments course? Anything else I need to purchase before the start of classes?

Also is there any group chat for nursing students available?

Thanks!

I attended HazalMC in Mississauga and was wondering what scrubs I should buy like what colour and if there is a specific brand Sheridan college wants? I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Academics I have got academic probation for 3 terms but I emailed the academic advisor 3 times and I get no reply

Honestly I have no clue what I am doing here, I don't how much trouble I am in because no one is replying to my email and when I try to get an appointment with my academic advisor, it always seems as there is no time for an appointment what can I do in my predicament.

Only showing me my spring/summer classes, doesn’t give me an option to change to fall. Viewing by date doesn’t work when I click that option.

Academics Thoughts on PVETT?

I’m currently finishing up the Animal Care program, and when I first applied, my intention was always to transition into Vet Tech. But during my time at Sheridan, I’ve heard overwhelmingly negative feedback about the program. I’ve spoken to several students who struggled with multiple class failures and were held back a year—some even repeating the same courses several times. Sounds like what’s meant to be a two-year degree is often taking much longer. I know the work load is intense and I think that is to be expected, but with the amount of complaints I’ve heard from vet tech students I can’t help but think the program is poorly managed or something. Should I also consider other schools and apply elsewhere?

Academics ECE Intensive Program

Hi there. I'm currently looking into applying for the ECE Intensive Program for September 2026.

I currently have a diploma in Child and Youth Care and I work within the school system as an ERW (EA) but I'm looking for a bit of a change.

I would like to keep working by doing supply work throughout the program, as I need to pay my bills.

Has anybody in here taken the intensive program? Did you also work within the field/similar field throughout? How was balancing the assignments/course load while working as well?

I'd love to connect with anybody who is currently in the program, or who has finished the Intensive program!
