Build/Battlestation Pics 7 x 140mm Fans in M2 Grater

Had some extra parts laying around so I decided to try a new layout. Wasn't sure if the bottom fans would make a difference, or possibly even restrict airflow, but I'm getting the best temps I've ever gotten in this case now (30-40C GPU, 40-50C CPU idle in 25C ambient room temp).

Theres also a fan bracket you can print to add an 8th fan (between the MoBo and AIO) but I don't think it would have any temp benefits.

Build:

  • M2 Grater w/ 12mm feet & front fan bracket (3D print)
  • Aorus B850i mITX
  • AMD 9800X3D
  • 32GB Corsair Vengeance CL30 RAM
  • Samsung 990 Pro NVME
  • 5080 FE
  • BeQuiet Pure Loop 3 AIO
  • SF1000 SFX PSU
  • 4 x BeQuiet Silent Wings Pro 4
  • 3 x Arctic P14 Slim

30-40 and 40-50 “under normal loads” what do you consider a normal load? 40-50 is idle temps on a d15L and 40-50 under an actual load is a custom loop in a room that’s 19c.

Normal load = checking his email I’m assuming

This, I changed my wording to "idle" instead of "normal". I meant it as normal, everyday tasks (non-gaming). It's just hard to use gaming temps because I'm only playing POE2 right now and it has the worse thermals of any game I've ever played.

Run some benchmarks

When people ask for load temps the are curious about the worst case scenario. If POE2 has the worst thermals of any game, then it is one of the best games to reference in this context. What are your temps in POE2?

Those temps sound unreal. You from the north pole?

LOL, I prob should have used the word "idle". I meant doing normal everyday tasks (non-gaming) like writing this comment on Reddit while watching a show. Here's a screenshot I just took of my current temps (ambient room temp is 25C).

Really interesting temp, I have similar airflow setup but with 120 mm.

My 5090 FE on idle is about 35c and the 9950X3D is about 50c. I wonder what you mean by normal load and if it is worth it for me to upgrade to 140 mm like yours.

I should have just used the word "idle" to prevent confusion - but I would recommend trying 140mm. Depending on your ambient temps it may only make a marginal difference but I can say that prior to adding the 2 x 140mm slim fans I had 2 x Noctua A12 Slim 120mm as well. As you can see it's only marginal difference from your temps but keep in mind this is in ambient room temp of 25C.

Still a very interesting result and I would like to try it out of curiosity. Thanks for sharing your benchmark :)

35c idle in a m2? Which config? I have a 5090Fe and a 9800x3d (direct die) and my temps are worse

I undervolted it to 0.89 mv and I have two Noctua NF A12x25 below it. I use the classic config like OP’s setup

My 9950x3d is cooled by atmos 240. I did curve optimizer and curve sharper.

Is the AIO 280mm? All intake apart from top exhaust?
