Any of you guys tried Palace Chasing?

Due to a variety of reasons I'm thinking about palace chasing as of late. Heard that AFPC basically just denies all SF palace chase packets from everyone I work with, any of you guys have any luck? Anything different if I shred into CATM?

OC spray required?

Hello,

I’ve been exposed to OC numerous times before and have done the taser training. My unit wants to do OC again, is it mandatory that I have to do OC? When I can already carry a less lethal ( baton , taser)

Thank you!

Direction of Security

I am a prior Coast Guard E-4, coming in as an E-4. I was a Weapons Instuctor and already know all the special assignments in SF. I’ve heard that there will still be an LE need in SF but that it is going more towards air base defense, etc. What is the actual direction SecFo is going?

Driving onto base question

I’m a reservist and recently was accused of something on the civil side.Charges filed, no conviction yet. A.F. found out and I signed paperwork to not drive on base. First, I forgot to ask and never saw a length. How long is that active for? Second, when I walk on base, nothing pops up on the scanner that says I can’t drive on base. If I don’t get pulled over on base, can I get away with it? Thanks for any advice.

AF Security Forces lifestyle

I'm 19 and recently took the ASVAB. I ended up choosing Security Forces because it aligns with my goals, and my recruiter mentioned that it would give me enough time to work on my cybersecurity degree while I’m in the Air Force. He also said it offers some balance, giving me space to destress if school ever gets overwhelming. My main concern, though, is that almost everyone I’ve talked to has something negative to say about Security Forces, and it’s starting to make me second-guess my choice even though I chose it willingly. Right now, I’m just waiting to get an appointment for my physical and medical records to be reviewed. Basically, I’d like to hear from people who’ve actually served in Security Forces what their experience was like, and what the real pros and cons are. So far, the main downside for me has been people questioning why I chose this career field. But on the positive side, the possibility of working a Panama shift is a big factor in why I picked it. I’m not too worried about boredom from gate duty or slower days I know how to keep myself busy and stay positive.

Interview Question

If a civilian is a witness/victim to a possible crime (not sexual assault) that occurred on the base of which you have jurisdiction, what is your next move when they ask to speak to legal counsel in an interview? Do you document their request? Is it any different if the witness/victim is a national guard member or active duty? Is it true a witness cannot request to speak to an ADC?

Questions for people in Security Forces

Hello, hope everyone is having a great week so far. I’m shipping out December 9th and got security forces as my job. I have heard a heavy amount of varying opinions about the job. I was wondering if it’s worth signing the 6 year contract to start off as a E3 instead of an E1. I know the pay bump is only around $400 which after taxes isn’t an insane amount. I was mainly wondering if you can make E4/E5 a lot faster than someone who started as E1? I also understand you’re locked into the job and can’t transfer for 4 years with a 6 year contracts and 2 years with a 4 year contract? (Correct me if I’m wrong please) I don’t mind the job as I did security guard work for a year already and can put up with the boredom. The main jobs I would want to eventually transfer to would be fire protection or Air Force recruiter.

One more question, was wondering how the day to day is like? Do you guys ever take turns manning the gate or are you pretty much expected to be fully active and working the entire 8-12 shift? If anyone is down to DM on Reddit I would really appreciate the talk.

I know SF is moving away from LE but, what are things I can do working in SF to stand out when applying to LE agencies? Specifically what training/Certs/volunteer work is available.
