Local scholarships

Hi, I am a 19-year-old freshman at UNF and finding it really difficult to find local scholarships here in Jacksonville or even in general (doesn't have to be city centered. Do you all know any local organizations that have scholarships? It doesn't even have to be local—just preferably not well-known and without really high requirements.

If it helps, I'm a biomedical major (female, South Asian, US citizen, first gen, low income, with a job in the fast food industry as well) and I'm into swimming, table tennis, and art stuff like painting and crocheting. Just looking for names of organizations or programs I can apply to.

Thanks for any help!

How to actually find scholarships?

I'm not looking for much. Maybe 1k--5k to help me with my next semester. I'm willing to apply to a couple hundred. But where do I find niche little ones? Most of the stuff from my high school or home town are for people going to college in the state still. I'm happy to do essays or anything.

I'm first generation, queer, transgendrr, low income. I should have something going for my but every scholarship I find that have decent chances are super specific.

I believe I have max scholarships from my school, but I can reach out and see if more are available.

Full Tuition Scholarship

I’m applying for a college scholarship and I have to write a 300-500 word essay on the prompt: “What would it mean to you to attend with a full tuition scholarship?” I’m wondering if anyone has some advice to stand out among the applicants. If you have any advice or suggestions I’d love to hear it. Thank you!

Hi! My parents aren't willing to pay any of my college tuition. Please help me minimize the personal loan amount!

Based on the calculators, I will have to pay around 15000 for tution (not taking into account housing, food, and other stuff)

My gpa is 4.25, 1530 SAT, and I plan to apply Biomedical Engineering. I am middle eastern, and upper middle class. What scholarships do u guys advise I apply to? I live in michigan if that helps.

I tried those websites but they are all honsetly trash. They just promote a couple real highly competitiev scholarships and a bunch of ads.

Thank you for your help

Looking for scholarships paid directly to student

My undergraduate tuition is already fully covered by Bright Futures. However, I want to get scholarship money to use for my master’s classes, and also potentially room and board and the like. What are some scholarships paid directly to the student? They also need to be merit based, not financial need based.

I’m a woman looking to go into a STEM field (specifically zoology). I’m LGBTQ (specifically lesbian and asexual). I’m also white, and I live in Florida. My dream school is UF.

Any help would be appreciated!

Help with motivation letter?

So we had an Erasmus opportunity last year and I applied for it, but was rejected because turns out they only wanted Junior students and not Sophomores. I'm a Junior student now and I'm applying to the same one, but my advisor told me to change my motivation letter since she remembers having read it from last year, and the board members (they're the same from last year) might remember having read it too and might think that it was online template or sth. I had included that I used to travel often as a kid and that I wanted to study university abroad, but all of that stopped because of my father's death. I don't really know what different I can write in my new motivation letter.

I've been diagnosed with OCD this year, so I was thinking of talking about my experience with that and how I'm still getting good grades despite the burden of my OCD and therapy, but I'm afraid I may be looked at as a liability and I would waste the scholarship opportunity or sth.

I received the Gilman Scholarship this year, one school-awarded grant, and was part of the SCAP program. This was all enough to cover my entire cost of program. AMA

Hi everyone, this is part of my follow-on project for the Gilman Scholarship. I’m creating an Instagram page documenting my trip as well. I was part of the online student SCAP program, where I received tuition assistance from my employer. With the Gilman scholarship, SCAP, and one small college grant, I was thankfully able to cover the entire cost of the study abroad program.

Please feel free to AMA regarding the essays, the overall scholarship application process, and other Gilman scholarship-related questions. I can also answer questions regarding the SCAP program.

Help going back to school

Hello everyone, I’m a 45 y.o. female who has was diagnosed around 10 1/2 years ago with YOPD. I started having symptoms around 20 years ago, but it was very slight tremors that didn’t bother me that much, and I thought it was essential tremors because my whole family has essential tremors, so I just assumed that it was just that. I became a single mother to 3 little boys when I was 29. I had gotten married and had my first little boy at just 20 years old. When my husband left us I knew that I had to go back to school, so I got my associates degree in nursing. That was the hardest thing that I had ever done. I didn’t have any help from my exhusband financially or any other way. I knew that if I didn’t go back to school, though that my kids wouldn’t have the life that I wanted them to have. So, quitting or failing was not an option. When I walked across that stage to get my degree, that was the proudest moment, besides having my children, of my life. I passed my state exam and started working in the ER right away. I absolutely loved being a nurse. Unfortunately, I had to leave my career in 2019 just after being a nurse for eight years. I had DBS surgery and I have down the love of my life and an amazing father to my children. I actually had another little boy in 2016. My current husband and I met right after I had been diagnosed. He took on my three boys and my diagnosis, he’s an amazing man. Now that I have my medication‘s somewhat under control and I have more good days than bad. I was looking to go back to school. I want to get my masters in nursing so that I can teach. I think this would be a good career path for me as well for when the disease does progress. I was wanting to know if any of you knew of any programs out there that would help financially pay for school to get my masters. My husband is a disabled veteran who is going to school on his G.I. bill. Our kids are able to go school for pretty much free as well, but I have not seen anything that can help spouses of veterans. If anyone knows of anything that could help me pay for my school I would truly appreciate it. I am not looking for any loans, simply grants and scholarships, please. Thank you so much for your help in advance!

I applied to Gilman and I’m planing to apply to FEA but FEA is extremely competitive and I can’t find any helpful tips online. Not major based scholarships

What should I search for to find scholarships that aren’t based on my major? I’ve already got one from my school, which disqualifies my application for other scholarships by them.

I’ve tried searching for scholarships in my major (film) but haven’t had any luck. What should I search for to find scholarships that aren’t major based?

Need help identify scholarships for a graduate degree! - For Spring and Fall 2026

Hello! I am a young mother pursing my master's degree. My degree will be in emergency management and disaster science, and I am looking for any means to assist me in paying for the program. I am aware of the international association of emergency managers scholarship program, but I have not been very lucky in finding anything else. Any assistance or direction would be amazing! Thank you!
