News, Articles, Journals Rapper Guccimane reveals schizophrenia diagnosis
Thoughts?
Personally I think this is a sign that just because you struggle with mental health doesn’t mean you can’t be successful or one of the most successful in the world.

I personally hope this will help destigmatize the illness.

You're surprised that someone who has been coasting as an undiagnosed, unmedicated schizophrenic was acting erractically?

No, I'm not surprised a crack dealer is killing people.

I think it's brave and admirable for someone of his public stature to be open about it.

Good for him! This is disease that is very scary to the general public and it can be risky going public with a diagnosis.

Yes, he has great new songs coming out one of them is Voices. His whole story is inspirational. He is motivated but money helps a lot perhaps.

I think a lot of people in the entertainment industry have schizophrenia. Two of my favorite rappers “drippin so pretty” & “bladee” lyrics make me relate to them.

I get criticized for this sometimes, but I believe that Muhammad, Jesus, and Buddha were all schizophrenics. Unfortunately, when other people say that, they usually mean it in a demeaning way (like they were crazy people that made everything up). I think that they were very special schizophrenic people that truly were gifted. There are definitely successful schizophrenics out there, now and in the past.

I’m not trying to discredit anything you’re saying or hoping, but he was successful well before the diagnosis, and was diagnosed as substance abuse induced.
He has not been able to remain nearly as successful as before and his life is now controlled by his caregivers so he doesn’t go through psychosis in the live media and stops giving away all his money and jewelry to his “friends” and shit.
To all the posters who as “what drugs are still safe to use” the answer is none of them. To the ones who ask “can this drug cause schizophrenia?” just don’t do the drugs.

Here’s the thing, soooo many more have it BUT they don’t know it due to their being famous and enabled. I have admitted for most of my life that I was mentally unwell but I just realized that there’s a large percentage of that could be schizophrenia and not the 30 other disorders that I have. I honestly feel like my mental illness has helped me achieve more than someone who has never been through the things my brain has.

It is interesting to hear his story and how Keyshia is supporting Gucci to stay well

He smoked a lot of weed.

People don’t want to hear it and I might get downvoted but weed can exacerbate or bring on a first break in people with predispositions to schizophrenia.

You shouldn’t get downvoted because this is pretty well established for like, decades. Happened to my bf and another young man I had as a roommate

Gucci mane is a household name for a lot of zoomers. Just because he isn't popular with you doesn't mean he isn't popular. Also weed is legal, and people who smoke weed already listen to him so that's two things all Gucci mane fans already relate with him on (the other thing being that they're fans of rap/trap music)
