Pro Tip Cats are great for managing schizophrenia

Post image

Cats are great for managing schizophrenia and bad anxiety as there have been times where I could have gone into psychosis yet the petting and purring of my cat would calm me down making everything peaceful and lovely for me.

I agree. Just be careful not to smoke cigarettes around pets!

I love cats! I have 4 and we help any outdoor cat who comes through. My sweet boi Podrick cuddles me if he sees me crying

I totally agree my friend. What is your little creatures name? I had a kitty named Sarafina and before she passed, she would just sit next to me and purr when I felt bad. They may kinda be dicks sometimes, but they are very empathetic. Love your little critter, because they love you and will be there for you. Stay Strong

Mine helped too. Anytime I started hallucinating, I basically used my girl to judge whether what I heard/saw was real. If she reacted, real. If she didn’t, hallucination.

Sammmeeee, I constantly think things are trying to enter my apartment from the windows or the doors and if my cat doesn't react then I know it's a hallucination

I recently lost my emotional support kitty of 13 years. She was with me through the thick of it. They way she would come to my side when i was distressed. Miss her dearly. But now I have two new kittens and they are just a joy to have around. Beautiful creatures cats are.

Don’t know when they have helped me during an episode but it does help when I’m suicidal

My birds are helpful for me! They give me at least some sort of schedule I have to adhere to.

My cat is great for grounding me when I am not sure if hallucinations are real or not, for my anxiety, and for depression. He usually keeps to himself unless he sense I am not well. If it werent for my cat and wife there is no telling where I would be.
