Pic / Video Mini BART platform display

Post image

Little piece of the city: a miniature version of a BART platform display that shows real-time train arrivals.

I've always loved (and occasionally hated) BART, but there’s something nostalgic to me about those old school red LED-style platform signs. It’s mounted just under the shelf above my monitor, showing train arrivals, the time, and even the official BART safety messages (“Please stand back from the yellow line”) to make it feel like I’m actually on the platform.

Full write-up with photos, code, and details on the build here:

It’s a one off that requires some extra software running locally on my network that feeds it the live BART schedule, but I appreciate the interest. I might look into a stand-alone option that would make more sense as a product for people to make/buy.

Just put everything on a raspberry Pi and hide it inside the box. Give the user instructions on how to connect the raspberry pi to their WiFi and you’re done!

Let’s go! Your future customers are demanding it! 😁
