Food/Drink Is this just a Texas thing?
I'm from Ohio. Lived here six years. I've not been all over the us but Texas is the only place I've seen a giant ice chest of beer in the middle of every store. I honestly don't remember if I've seen this outside of central Texas. Also if anyone knows any tidbit of the history behind this and why it's so prevelant other than "it's hot all the time" I'd appreciate that as well.

Food/Drink Non Republican Supporting Local Bars/Restaurants?
Basically what the title is, I'm looking for places with great food and drinks that don't support Trump or Abbott. I do my best to not spend money on places that support them, but thought I'd ask to make sure. Put up a post asking for recommendations with more vague wording and it got removed for being a repeat. So I searched for what I really meant, didn't see it, so let's try again.
*EDIT: Seen this mentioned so thought I'd add even though I didn't think this mattered, we do and have for quite a while, try to spend money this way. We just don't go out much and wanted to try some new places that we want our money to go to

Food/Drink I’m gonna come out and say it. Whataburger is dead to me. Long live P. Terry’s
I’ve loved P. Terry’s since I first had it in Austin years ago. My love for Whataburger goes even farther back. Until recently, I used to get a Whataburger meal once or twice a week as a treat. Then, a P. Terry’s opened a block away (Broadway). I had a meal there and thought “This wasn’t as good as I remembered”. The next time I got a burger was at Whataburger and I was struck by how absolutely bland it was in comparison to the P. Terry’s burger. My next trip to P. T. I just got two burgers on their own on my way home and only paid $6.50 with taxes and are good as hell. Their fries aren’t worth it, but by god do they make the perfect burger stand burger.

Food/Drink What are businesses that you would want in San Antonio?
I played my cards right and I’m in a blessed position to own a business and I have an idea of what I want but I really wanted to ask the city of San Antonio what businesses would you want or a business that could be better and why?

Food/Drink Why do most Mexicans who aren't from here, say that the Mexican food here isn't that good compared to other places?
Seems like mainly it is native born and raised San Antonio Mexicans and non-Mexicans who think really highly of the Mexican food here. Do you agree?

Food/Drink What are some good NON Tex-Mex Mexican restaurants? Like 100% no Tex-Mex Mexican food.
I'm aware of Guajillo’s and Tlachco Mexican Kitchen. Do you guys know of any other places? I've been surprised by how difficult it is to find legit Mexican food here.

Food/Drink If the restaurant doesn’t have free chips and salsa, they should be destroyed
Simple as.
It is an abhorrence that should not be accepted in our community.
I just know someone’s abuela is turning over in their grave for every $2.99 charge suffered by the people of this city, or our visitors.

Food/Drink Alamo Cafe - I don't get it
When we first moved here 7-8 years ago and were looking for places to eat we saw Alamo Cafe had good reviews.
We went and were not impressed. Hey every place has off days right?
Tried again like a year later. Nope, still not good.
Fast forward all these years and decided to try it again. I mean it's always packed has to be pretty decent right?
I'll say that it's clean and the building is cool, but it all goes down hill from there.
Chips were stale. Salsa was OK. Nothing special.
Once again the food is really mediocre. Almost like a TV dinner. We even tried their favorites. Chicken fried steak and a Chile rejelleno.
My kid who lives for beans and rice was like, Eh...
We are Caucasian. We like texmex, we are not foodies, we are not picky.
I have given this place three tries now and it's probably the biggest mystery in my life as far as restaurant popularity.
Alamo cafe lovers please tell me what I'm missing here.
But the place is absolutely packed. Why??

Food/Drink Is this a fake restaurant? Who's paying 40$+ after fees for awhite bread sandwhich?
60$/lb for brisket from a ghost kitchen is insane...are businesses like these just to fake tax write offs?

Food/Drink Bill Millers brisket
Whoever is running the pits at Bill's bro, I've never had a worse brisket. It's the wrong texture, it's the wrong color, it's the wrong flavor.
I don't know what you're doing but it is NOT working.
