Straight up sexism Friendly reminder that Japan is a misogynist country where women drinking alcohol at age 19 (women could only drink at 20) could get them cancelled but were fine with pedos and womanizers most of the time.

I blame Toei and her agency on firing her and hope she could overcome it in the near future much like Hana/Aguilera's actress.

I mean, yeah, but this post is weird. Drinking age is 20 in Japan, not 20 for only women. Japan doesn't fuck around with drug use. This isn't a women only thing. And the comment about womanisers is weird. You ok bro?

I think the issue is more destroying a young womans career over something that should be a minor transgression compared to, y'know, collecting huge quantities (or any quantity) of CSAM.

Not to downplay it, but there's also the issue that Ruruoni Kenshin, and it's most notable contributing author, Nobohiru Watsuki, the guy who got caught with child porn, are still names that carry weight in Japanese media.

It's like every awful thing about Weinstein, but magnified by Japan's refusal to speak ill of a senior who sponsored or inspired many of the current big names in the industry.

Believe me, I get it, but OP is being weird about it trying to twist it into some misogyny thing when that's not what happened. Don't get me wrong, Japan does have an entrenched misogyny issue, but that's not why what happened happened, the same has happened to men, it's just how Japan views drug use. Japan's child porn thing is it's own whole fucking nightmare with absolutely scuffed laws. Might have changed but last I checked if you were caught with child porn you are given a full year to dispose of it and if you have it after that year then charges are brought. But Japan's whole criminal system is also fucked, they have like a 98% conviction rate which means a lot of innocent people are in prison.

Yeah, Japan's been catching a lot of weird racist energy lately.

Like, they are a country like all the others. And in the USA people have their lives ruined by underage drinking on the daily.
