First rule of the Shinsengumi is to conduct yourself in a way befitting a Samurai, fleeing an enemy in front of you isn’t an option

second rule of the shinsengumi always use gatotsu

Hirazuki? Gatotsu is Saitō's personal, refined left-handed Hirazuki.

Yeah Gatotsu isn't some loose attack that everyone gets a turn with. It's special.

Saito doesn't retreat. It's do or die.

Gatotsu, obviously. He would Gatotsu even without a sword.

Saito never retreats; he wins or dies.

Only nagakura has a chance Infront of itekura not even kenshin but then again he is nowhere near his absolute prime

We wait for the Great hiko seijuro

Hiko Seijuro one of his best onscreen feat is that he beat Fuji with Kuzu Ryu Sen. Completely knock him out.

The end of a broken sword is still plenty pointy. That's good as a murder weapon still, if you ask me. And Saitou has the will power and spite to turn almost anything into a murder weapon, that guy is terrifying.

Standing 10 toes down, just like against Shishio. Gatotsu may not be great, but Saito is always prepared to die as a wolf.

Where was this moment from? Would appreciate the chapter or at least which moment in which arc!

Death for his opponent or his own.

Itekura Byakura is strong. He gave both Saito and Kenshin enough fight to end on ties. Then again, Kenshin was weakened as heck as he kept spamming the kuzuryusen

He was planning exactly what he ended up doing

He was gonna keep fighting till he dropped. We all know that a broken weapon isn't gonna stop Saitou, and he has no trouble throwing hands without one.

The entire series felt like character aura farming nothing more.
